I was meant to have received a parcel over a week ago now that was sent from CHCH to AKL by track & trace.

I live on a long road that is classed as many different areas, we live in the 1000's. NZ post delivered the parcel at the other end of the road in the 100's. They have told me where they delivered the parcel and that they have tried to retrieve it but had no luck.

They are now slowly starting a claim process........has anyone had experience with this process? The goods were worth over $100.

I am tempted to go to the address myself and ask for my parcel........would anyone else out there do this?

I cannot believe how useless NZ post have been about this whole thing. They seem very "oh well" about it and have almost made me feel guilty for wanting to know what is happening.

If you know the address where they delivered it, go down and ask for it! I would, but I am a grumpy mare

I'd have a look but weigh up the situation. If the place looks pretty dodgy I'd probably leave it and just go through with the claim.

UPDATE!

Just had a call from the people where the parcel was delivered! They have been trying to contact NZ post but had no luck, so they called directory and got my number and I am going to pick it up today. Turns out its a Labour MP that it was delivered to. Maybe politicians are honest after all LOL!!!!!

Thanks for your replies

Wow that's a bit dodge that NZ Post told you they'd tried to retrieve it, but the people who had it obviously hadn't been contacted at all! NZ Post can't have tried very hard

Isn't it nice to know that honest people still exist.

On a nother note 2 years ago sent a parcel to my sil who at the time was living overseas in Brunei her parcel got lost i went through the process of a claim and in the end they actually found it sent to the correct address on the parcel which as it turned out was the wrong one she gave us the wrong one.

Hehe... good on the MP. It's nice to know some people are decent enough to do the right thing!

Very dodgy of NZ Post to say they'd tried to retrieve it when they obviously hadn't... I hate it when people do that. Grr...

I shouldn't even start because I can't stand NZ post, they have lost so many of my parcels . Even ones tht have had a signature requirement on them. I think some of their staff (no insult intended for any NZ post workers on site) are not necessarily the most honest people. And NZ post are always very unapologetic and casual about missing items. It must makes me soooo mad

Ha, I use to live in Brunei, and when we were sent parcels we had to go to the post office and open them infront of custom people to check there was nothing offending in there. We were once sent a book about south east asia, and we watched them rip out 2-3 pages of the book as what it said was offensive to the royal family.

NZPost!!!! Grrrrrr!  heres my experience with them.  I do the accounts for Dad's business from home (they are AKL based, I am south island).  we set up a redirection of all mail. It was slow but mostly worked.  Until I found that they had been stock piling 4 months worth of magazine size mail and sent that all at once.  not cool.

Then I moved and we altered the redirection.  Sometimes it came to the right address, sometimes the old address, and sometimes back to the sender.  Remember this is a business.

THen at Christmas they decided to close our PO box and send all the mail back!!!!!  No good reason, we were still paid up.  So cheques got returned to our customers etc.

Finally after MANY phone calls they sorted it out and promised us that we could have a year free.  Cool.  A month or so on our mail is held.  We cant get it because we havent paid!  So much for our free year...and so much for getting an invoice first.

I think it is all sorted now.

But our personal mail (on a seperate redirection seems to be doing the same thing....grrrr)

Yeah NZPost are just useless IMO.
Sorry Charly but I'm going to share our story/rant here

Charly and I had a letter go missing and I lodged the details using their online form which had all the info including where it was sent from and where it went to and what day and time it was sent.

I got this standard reply that said that they couldn't find it, didn't really track letters, would look into it for the future and then 2/3rds of the letter went on about the importance of return addresses (which it had and which I told them it had).

Charly goes into the post office at her end and they tell her the box is 'prone to tampering' and that it's probably been taken.

So great investigation when they couldn't even bloody tell me that originally. What's the point of doing a 3 page online form if they're not even going to bother? Why not just put a note on the website saying 'we don't investigate lost letters?'
