Topic: oh baby team Posted: 03 December 2008 at 8:41am |
is there something going on with the ohbaby site?
when i go into some posts there is a huge gap at the top of the screen and i have to scroll down for a bit before i come to the postings.
and i am finding that the pages are taking a while to load up, i am on broadband and im not having trouble with my other forums and webpages.
Just editing to add, that i am also finding that when i hit the post button it can take a while for it to post.
For all i know it could be my pc, but just needed to check
Oh and btw, merry christmas you guys have done a wonderful job this year, and i cant wait to spend another year with you guys

I'm having the same problem too. Sometimes it takes so long I close the the window and start it back up again.

I have the same problem too. I wondered if the site is too big with all the photos/advertising/tickers etc etc etc.....
Also, the email that got sent out yesterday about all the competition winners - I couldn't see any of the pics. Not sure if it was just me.

I sometimes have the slow issue thing too.
But find that when there is a big gap, that the page always contains pictures....its always been like that for me.

The big gap thing happens when there's a big pic posted that's too wide to fit to the left of the banner ads, so it moves the whole page down to below the ads.
But the website has definitely been slow recently, and has been losing posts, and double posting, and all sorts of things (tishy started a thread about this a couple of days ago).
Unhelpfully, Emma's internet is down, so she won't be on here for a while to reply, but she did say a week or so ago that the tech guys were looking into it.
ETA: all the photos and tickers are hosted on other sites, so shouldn't contribute to this site being slow. The ads are hosted here but there aren't enough of them to cause the slowdown either. It's probably just sheer traffic volume and all the posts snowballing...

I sometimes have the gap thing, but haven't found it to be slower than usual.

It has been reaaaaaally slow for me too. I'm also sometimes having issues with the active topics not updating, or updating itself randomly when I post.
Not always, just occasionally.

I'm having massive problems with slooooowness. On my home broadband connection, it's very slow and sometimes stuffs out, on my work connection it's absolutely diabolical (because it's slow enough in the first place for normal pages). It's got to the stage that after I post a message, I always copy it, as quite often the site times out when it's trying to post as well. It's been particularly bad over the last few days.

There was something majorly wrong this morning but seems ok now for me, apart from a bit of slowness now and then.

My newest thing is if I navigate away from OB and then come back I'm 'logged out'. Except I'm not really because if I go to the OB main page I'm logged in and if I then go back to the forums I'm still logged in without having to enter username or password. Magic!
Don't know why it thinks I'm logged out if I come straight to the forums.

I have the big gap too, I thought it was just because the site was written for non Safari browser computability. It has nothing to do with the big photos, those cause their own problems. If I refresh the page everything rights itself.
