Inlaws came when I got out of hospital to help out etc. to 2 weeks.
My family came in the school holidays (mums a teacher and siblings are still in school) Mum was there for the birth though as it was all very rushed and scarey so she caught the next available flight down.
Dad didnt come with mum due to work, so still hasnt seen James yet. Nanna came about a month after james was born.
Kayla Rose is now 4!
James Sydney is nearly 2!

my parents came up on the day, and went home the next day, then came up for a holiday when Jake was 5 weeks old. Dad was having Chemo and Radiation, so they had to wait till treatment was finished. That gave me HEAPS of time to settle in, however, my brother, his DP and their at the time 3 year old who is a handful, came up for a week when J was 2 weeks old, which I found stressful, especially as I was expressing milk to feed.

Mum was waiting outside the operating theatre for me and my stepmum and sister came to see me the day I had Sam, my dad is managing the steel construction of the albany supercentre so couldn't come till the Sunday (i had him on tuesday).

The inlaws came on the night I had him to see him for half an hour, then drove back to Thames.

I was annoyed that my DPs cousin came round like the minute we got back from the hospital and wanted hot drinks and to cuddle the baby and didn't leave for ages..

My dad drove up as soon as he heard I was in labour (am ony child and dad only lived two hours away). Mum was at the birth and we were living with her at the time. Lew's parents lived in Aus, but we went over on our way to Japan when Jake was six weeks. When Taine was born they met him at 9 months old.

My mum came down the day Elle was born (lives in Chch), and Dad didn't see her until she was a few months old. But they also get to see her on the web cam alot so they don't miss out on too much.

MIL came the next day (and she lives in the same city).

My Mum came the day that i went into labour with my first 2 and they day before with my last one. She went home shortly after then came back for 2wks after DP went back to work. DPs parents live close so they saw them as soon as they were born.

Maya was born at 8.11am, mum arrived on the midnight flight from Sydney that same day. We had planned on her coming after I got out of hospital but she couldn't wait.

With the gremlins Mum and Dad came when they were 5 weeks old. They were in Ireland when I gave birth, I had them at 7.45pm and 7.48pm and called them to tell them and they had champagne and lobster for breakfast to celebrate coz it was morning over there. Then they went to Portugal for 3 weeks. I was (and still am) a bit pissed about it coz they knew when I was being induced and still went away, and I could really have used the support. I ended up driving myself and the gremlins home from Birthcare. But it was good having the 12 hour time difference coz I could ring Mum at 2am when Mercedes was screaming with reflux and it was daytime over there. My phone bill for Nov was $600

DH and were talking about this and we figure we will probably tell our parents once baby is born otherwise they could be waiting by the phone for hours also my in laws run/own a bed and breakfast so could have guests when I do go into labour.

Also I would hate for them to drive 2 hours here and then I have a 48 hour labour.
