Topic: people with front loaders Posted: 31 July 2008 at 8:51pm |
am super pissed at the moment.
When we were vomitty and stuff, of course our less than 2 year old washing machine blew up. Anyway, the repair guy came around the put in a new motor. and the conversation got interesting.
Turns out WE were at fault - although he is putting it through as a warrantee so we don't have to pay.
He said we are using the wrong powder. i debated this as i ALWAYS check that the powder is suitable for front loaders. we generally use relfect. he said that it was well known amongest repair people that although most powders SAY they are okay for front loaders, they are not. the suds end up leaking into the motor and corrode it. So I mentioned the ones we use - reflect, surf...whatever is on special and he said despite them saying they are suitable, it is wrong.
sounded dodgy to me, so rang my aunt who has a front loader and she said she was told the same thing. so now only uses persil low suds.
SO washing powder manufacturers are SAYING their powder is okay, but all repair people and machine manufactureres know that actually it is blatantly damaging machines.
Am so annoyed that I have been buying these products based on what they say on the box and they have lied. Have emailed the company and fairgo. pass this on to whoever you know with a front loader. my repair man said if in doubt, ring your washing machine manufacturer and they should be able to tell you

Really! We have had a front loader for about one month now and it came with 6kg of Persil Low Suds, so have mainly been using that. But I really hate the over perfumed smell. Was thinking about changing to the Ecostore front loader powder, but not sure now...

What machine do you have Liz? We don't have a front loader but one of those 'smart' machines that is meant to be as efficient as one and doesn't have an agitator etc, so use the front loader powder. Might give F&P a ring tomorrow just in case.

Ack. I think it's the same as dishwashers - you're supposed to use the brand that the manufacturer tells you to, as opposed to brands that say they're ok for use in front loaders/dishwashers I know with our dishwasher, if we don't use ... I don't know - whatever it's supposed to be the warranty is invalid. Obviously, our warranty is very invalid same with our front loader!

Hmmmmm that's interesting, we have only ever used the persil front loader powder (think that is the low suds one) and also ecostore. No problems yet but I would be interested to know if ecostore is one of the ones that isn't actually ok.
Hope fair go look into it cos that is so wrong.

Got an email from electrolux- incidently, i don't think they can speak english well, but i am a little pedantic about grammar.
anyway, they confirmed what repair man said.
"we do not endorse any particular brand, but the cheaper brands do have a large amount of "filler" which tends to foam. the foam if leaky will hamr your machine. more good branded powders shouldn't do this. for example persil low suds"

i had this problem and i was already using the persil low suds.
The repair man said i should only put in half a scoop of Persil Low Suds as a whole scoop is too much and Persil only say to use a whole scoop so that so you get through it quicker and buy more. I have been using half a scoop ever since and the wash has always come out fine.

Wow - we have a front loader and always use front loading powder.
We did use top loader powder for a short while but it just didn't wash the clothes properly, so we switched.
That's interesting stuff to know, thanks lizzle.

Oh wow....really..I always use reflect in my front loader cause it says it's fine & because it doesn't smell.
Reflect isnt' all that cheap either unless you can get it on special...& I have bought up so I guess I am stuck with it for now.
I guess when I run out I'll switch to persil low suds

We have a Top Loader it is the FP one without the agitator that only can use low suds washing powder so all we ever buy is persil low suds sensitive.
