they have changed the smell of persil...yuck it is awful   thats what i looked like when i smelt it after ti opened the box. i rang and they said they changed it after consumer feedback, well they never asked me and i have used it for 15 years.

i have emailed them.. this is what i sent:

Comments: I just want to complain about the horrible new smell of your Persil washing powder. I have been using this powder for years, ever since i left home. my mum used it and i tried other powders when i left home but found persil the best. One of the reasons i liked it so much was the fact that it didnt smell of chemicals, so i am very disappointed to now find my clothes and nappies smelling of chemicals. In fact the smell is so strong it overpowers my whole laundry. The fact there was no warning on the box or advertising about it is also disappointing. Fifteen years i have been a loyal Persil user, and i am afraid now i have to find a new powder that lets my clothes smell like sun and fresh air, not whatever it is you are using. I am disappointed.

If you use persil adn dont like the new smell either, i urge you to email them and get them to put it back.

we found that with the high performance but we use sensitive or aloe vera and they still smell fresh, the high performance is extremly strong and perfumy now, i noticed that a while back, i hate perfumy smells in washing powders.

I haven't used Persil since I got pregnant with the gremlins. When I was preg with Maya I went off the smell of Cold Water Surf, and with the Gremlins it was Persil Sensitive. I still can't bring myself to use them even now

I will go against the trend and say I like a bit of perfume in my soap powder - having said that it has to be a smell I like ofcause LOL I use persil sensitive and hasn't changed although did get the regular one the other day so will have to have a smell when I open it.

I agree AnnC. I like my clothes to smell 'clean', and sometimes that means that you need a little bit of a scent.

I sometimes use the EcoStore soap powder (to be honest I somehow have managed to get loads of free samples, so have never actually bought it!) and I quite like the smell of it. Its not overly scented, but things do smell nice and clean without smelly of chemicals if that makes sense!

We use Next Generation which is similar, it has a slight lavender smell but not overpowering

i got a reply from persil and this is what they said...

Thank you for contacting us about our Persil High Performance Washing Powder.

We are always interested to hear from our consumers and welcome your comments.

Fragrances, like taste, are very subjective and it is recognised that consumers have definite preferences with regard to perfumes. The new fragrance was selected based on extensive consumer research as the most preferred. We do manufacture Persil Sensitive which is free from dyes and perfumes and is designed for sensitive skin.

As we regularly review our range of products, I have forwarded your comments to the relevant departments.

I have also recorded your comments into our database so they can be considered for future development of the product.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your valuable feedback that will assist us in continuing to provide quality products to our consumers.

i just couldnt see why they would change it, i loved the old smell. but i guess the majority wanted it changed.
I wouldnt mind a lavender scent to my washing powder I lvoe lavender its my fav new fragrance since i got pregannt this time round I hated it with haleigh.
but we use only aloe vera and sensitive becuase of the perfumes adn dyes as we all tend to flare up with the normal one these days.
