I haven't had any experience either, but I have heard of many cases where the placenta moves up and out of the way... I think they check again to see how it is going later in pregnancy

On of the teachers at Andrew's daycare in Palmy her placenta was fully covering the cervix at 19 weeks scan. At 28 weeks it had moved right out of the way and she went on to have a normal delivery.

In my last pregnancy the placenta was right next to my cervix, but not quite covering over it... and it moved up and out of the way. So I can't really give you proper advice but I hope it all works out for you!

I had pp with both pregnancies early and by the 33 wk scan both time it had lifted, I still had 2 c-sections tho. But I don't know of anyone who has had it continue thru to the end of their preg. sorry, hope it goes well for you

Yip - full placenta previa over here! I'm hoping like hell it'll move, but I've been told I'm carrying a VERY big baby, so maybe I shouldn't hope so hard ...
Apparently because the uterus still has quite a bit of growing to do around our stages, it can easuily move with expansion. My OB said it's a problem, but not to stress at this point. I just have to take extra precautions at the mo (no sex for a start! ) while the placenta is being a bit grumpy.

ginger my midwife just told me yesterday and forbid any sex til atleast 32weeks! i felt a bit guilty cus DH and i had relations the night before.....ive had no bleeding and no probs so will hold out for my 22week scan to see any improvement...........but i gota say too that my MW didnt do me any favours by freaking me out- i had low lying palcenta with my first and MW said nothing about it only that i had to have another scan to check its clear.....and i never thought bout it......yesterday MW basically freaked out and said i was high risk and theres very slim chance things will change blah blah.....
but good to know someone else in the same boat and fingers crossed all works out

MW's are good like that arent they??
I am under Hig Risk Clinic due to high BP before pregnancy and family history of Diabetes. However with DD I was fine and so far fine with this one....my MW is the YAY...Life is GOOD type person...so never freaks me out, even if I should. And every time I call her because I worried...she says relax!! you are fine!! take it easy!!.....
Sorry that your MW is not like that! you dot really need the extra sress right now!!

It was probably just unexpected... and mw is the type of person to be more cautious rather than flippant, just to be safe. That's great so many other people have had the placenta covering right over and it's moved!! Here's hoping...

Mrshouse - I'm under an OB and he isn't too concerned at this point. Obviously it's not the best, but he certainly didn't panic me about it. I had another appointment yesterday and the sex thing is just a 'take care, if you have any problems cease and desist, recover, take a break' sort of thing. I've had bleeding and pain as a result, so DH and I are just playing it safe and careful. I don't think it's fair that your MW put the fear of god into you though!
