    Posted: 11 October 2006 at 2:04pm
Ethan is now 6 weeks old and I am wondering if I spend enough time playing with him on the ground with toys for under his playgym.

My question to you is: How long do you/did you spend playing with your newborn??

I keep Micky up for about an hour and half during feed time he will often doze between that time, but as long as you chat to him and give him time on the floor that is enuf his best toy at the momnet is you so he does not need alot of time playing with toy's.

Ok that is nice to know. I usually only play with him for about 10-15 mins on the floor but always sit and talk to him after or before feeds.

I used to read to Maya, that was the extent of our play time when she was small. The rest of the time she either played under her baby gym or in her bouncer. I did the wake, feed, change, play, feed, sleep thing that Plunket recommended with the aim of the game being to get it done in an hour so they don't get too overtired, so her playtime was usually only 10 minutes or so.

Am still contemplating the logistics of feeding and changing 2, haven't gotten around to thinking about playing yet

Argh... make the most of them needing limited active play.

While I love jumping on Han's bed with her... there is only so much I can take of her jumping on me!!!

Newborns are pretty easy to play with... all the things you do instinctively like smile, cuddle and talk to them are the most important

Can't wait until you have to read "Barney's Hats" six times in a row

Well Hannah's got a nicer Mum than Maya coz Maya's Mum growls and says "no more monkey's jumping on the bed!"

But I second the six times in a row bit....

Well... Hannah's a climber... and I decided jumping on the bed was more relatively safe than climbing up onto the back of the couch and leaping off

Oh yeah, we do that one too. The number of times her head has narrowly missed the edge of the TV table...

Yeah Ella does that too, blimmin daredevil babies!
And despite my mother's laughing comment when she did eventually crack her head on the coffee table after a particularly violent leap off the couch, "Well she'll only do that once!" She keeps on doing it, slow learner!!

Our favourite is the hungry caterpiller, I could recite it by heart now.
I try to talk to addison as much as possible but its hard with a toddler racing around.
