Topic: Playground bubba swings Posted: 21 November 2007 at 9:59pm |
ok so there seem to be plenty of half tyre swings with a chain across them in playgrounds around here...but NO baby swings within cooey! I know cause i drove around for 45 mins after DC today looking for a playground with a baby swing to take ella to....and NOTHING!!! none...none at the beach, none anywhere around botany or meadowlands that i could find...lucky she was tired and used the time productively...she slept!
soooo - where are there playgrounds with bubba swings that we can look out for when we are driving around???

I'm fairly sure that there used to be a baby swing in a park in Sunnyhills when I used to nanny about 4 years ago. The park was at the top of Caithness Place. Not sure if it'll still be there though!

Yeah the swings with the chains in front are generally what you put the bubbas in at most of the playgrounds around botany, down at the beach dannemora, howick pakuranga etc.
The swings without chain and hooks are for the older kids

The little park down the road from us has one... On Onehunga Mall by the Trafalgar Street Lights.
What about the new park at Lloyd Elsmore by the swimming pools??

there are moulded plastic type ones for bubbas at some of the new playgrounds...but obviously NOT in auckland!!!!
we have an awesome one near the temple but again NO bubba swings...guess she needs to be able to sit and hold on...the ones with chains have nothing between their legs etc to hold them in. Hence dfference for bubbas....keep me posted if you see ANY in auckland...might have to write to council and ask where the heck my rates have gone if there are no bubba swings anywhere...OMG the ones at cockle bay were that flat hard plastic seat from the 70's still...ouch how the heck are you meant to sit on those!

One Tree Hill has them :)
Elle prefers the non-bubba, non-safe ones though :) I let her swing in them but we are just very careful.

Come visit us BS. Although it isn't the new plastic type the one down the road from us is made of the rubber (tyre stuff) and is a full circle with leg holes! No chain. Sam loves it :)
