    Posted: 31 March 2009 at 2:53pm
I'm looking for a playgroup to attend once or twice a week with my active and curious toddler... does anyone know of any playgroups in Howick, Pakuranga, Botany or Panmure? Even Ellerslie.

I can't commit to the whole Playcentre thing so not looking for that, and I'm wanting somewhere where we can go together (not preschool/daycare).

I'm not coming up with much on the old google.... so does anyone have a playgroup in this area they know of?

TIA

Call Plunket and find out from them. They usually have a whole list of them in the surrounding areas.

Mainly music is at mosts churches as well and also a great time out for kiddies.

Thanks ladies, oh yeah Kelly i should have thought of asking your mum.

We already go to mainly music once a week but that's pretty much it. My boy does love just pottering around home and outside but I think he just needs another change of scene.

I looked at all the plunket ones on the website but they're all on days I'm working

Yes the one at the all saints church playgroup in Howick is very good, there is a waiting list but you get three free visits, there is also one on the Howick/Pakuranga Highway next to KFC in the Pakuranga Hall, and one at St Columbas church by Paradice and there is another at the church at the top of Baird Street.
I vouch for the one at All Saints Church in Selwyn Road Howick and I am sure Kelly will take Tyler there when he is old enough. when C got bigger we got her in to Uxbridge Creche in Howick which is very good too and when you are looking at Public Kindys later enrol at Highland Park as they get in there before there third birthdays and depending where in pakuranga you live
Anchorage Park Kindy has a small waiting list

I don't know of any, but you could try contacting the Parents Centre in that area (Highland park i think) as they will often run music & moving, toddler time, coffee morning type things

There is a good one on a Tuesday from 10:00 am at the church (I can't remember the name of it)opposite Botany Town Centre and next to Botany College. They put on morning tea and do a music session as well.

Oh yeah St Columba... that's the one I found online and emailed a query, but haven't heard back... on further googling I found they're very popular and have a waiting list. It sounds like it's really good though, and they have playgroup every day and Tuesdays is music and playgroup.

Thanks heaps Susie, I'll do a ring around early next week to see what days they are to see if they fit in.

There's also a toddlers gym thing at the pak youth centre, it's only $32 for a term, so I'm thinking of checking that out. It's the same day that we go to Mainly Music (it would be right before) so I'll just have to see how the boy copes. It might just tire him out nicely!!
