Sorry - bizarre question for this site, but here goes . . .

DH is away until Monday. Our overflow from the cold water tank in the attic has been dripping for a while but it is running out now fairly quickly and making quite a pool on the ground.
I am going to climb into the attic tomorrow and try adjusting the ballcock as I believe (from internet research) this may do the trick - however - just wondering if anyone has any advice on this? I still don't know many people around here to ask so any input will be gratefully received!
thanks!

Dh says bend the arm down on the ballcock and that should stop it and if it doesnt ballcock valve will have to be replaced..

*whatever that means:) *

Thanks Foxxy - it seems to have done the trick - well kind of. Overflow is only dripping slowly now and not pouring out.
Have started to run washing machine though so will have to see what happens when that stops . . .
(why do these things always happen to me when DH goes away?)

when you find out the problem let me know!!!!

we are going through the same thing, and have been for the last few months. we've replaced the ballcock and the whole arm piece that it sits on, adjusted the kitchen sink as that's what seems to set it off, and STILL it overflows

the water flows out the pipe which sticks out the side of the house but the water that sits on the ceiling floor leaks through the ceiling in the hallway. so now we have a rooted hallway and watermarks on our new carpet

FIL is coming over this weekend to have another go at it, probably end up bypassing the header tank in the roof altogther.

how well do you know your neighbours?   maybe you could get one of them to climb in the attic?

it all seems to be ok now (knock wood) - my neighbours are elderly so wouldn't even ask!

i think it must have been a ballcock problem (i will get DH to replace it when he gets back). Your problems sounds a whole lot more complicated than mine! There seem to be quite a few plumbing query websites around the internet so may be worth looking there . . .

The whole system looks like it hasn't been updated since the house was built in the 1950s so i can feel a big expense coming on . . .
