Topic: Plunket car seat hire Posted: 22 January 2010 at 7:46pm |
Can anyone give me an indication of how much it costs to hire a capsule from plunket?
Just trying to work out what we'll buy and what we won't...
Thanks!

Hey, my ILs hire a carseat from Plunket and they've found it fantastic. The charges may differ at each Plunket but here the capsules and carseats cost the same, they paid an initial deposit/bond of $50 and a hire cost of $25 for the first six months. They decided to keep it for another six months after that and paid another $25. When they give it back they will have their $50 bond returned so it will only cost them $50 for the year.
Not sure about your Plunket hire but ours is very popular and you need to get on the list quickly to get something in time.

I think our Plunket hire was about the same when I enquired with Jack.
We bought an ex rental from Baby Factory for Ben (borrowed one for Jack from a friend). It was $65 to buy it which is about the same as hiring! They have been hired out twice before they sell them. I think it was well worth it, a friend is borrowing it now tbut then I might flick it off on TM so I don't have to store it. Will look at doing the same if/when we have #3

It depends where you are as to how much you will be charges. Give your local plunet a call and ask them.
I now wish I had bought a capsule as in hindsight I plan to have more than one baby... I used baby on the move and I think I got ripped off personally.
Next baby we are just going to get a reversible one and hope someone offers to lend us their capsule

Personally, if you're going to have more than 1, I would buy a capsule. You can get them starting from $100 from places like the Baby Factory and on special. We paid about $130 for ours (was on special), it's gone through 2 kids, then is going to a friend for a while, then my sis plans on using it (will buy it probably) for when she has a baby, as it has a 6 year life span. Plus you know where it's been and if it's been in a crash etc.

Our Plunket (Hutt) is $110 for one with a base, includes $40 bond. Also hire the snap on wheels for $35.
