Yes my contractions were all through my back, a wheat pack was a god send & I'm sure sitting on the swiss ball helped.

DS was posterior and I wont go into detail re the birth as I had a c-section (for a few reasons) but re contractions - DS's were all in my lower back and they were pretty painful from the beginning and stayed that way. With DD who was ROL the contractions weren't as bad until a little later in the piece which just meant I laboured more at home and was more dilated when I got to hospital. But second time round that could have happened anyway - who knows!

But all in all - it hurt both times and seeing as DS was my first I didn't have anything to compare it to at the time anyway.

All the very best!!

Miss Jojo was posterior and didn't turn, but we managed to have a pretty good birth anyway. I was induced at 2 weeks overdue, and managed with just the gas and accupuncture. I wont lie, it hurt like a mofo, and I felt all the contractions in my back. Saying that, I think it's going to be painful no matter what lol!! But you wont necessarily have a c-sec just because bubba is stubborn and facing the wrong way

Hannah was posterior and felt contractions in my back. She turned during (7 hour) labour and came out fine.

Mason was anterior but turned 90% posterior during (75 minute) labour. He got stuck, but with some gas, a bit of fancy leg and hip positioning and LOTS of bracing against the two midwives' hips he came out in 13 minutes of pushing.

My midwife said if he was my first then we'd definitely have needed some extra help (forceps/ventouse, possibly a c-section) but given things had already been stretched out previously he was sweet to get out.
I didn't tear, but Mason did nick an artery inside the vaginal wall on his way out which needed a stitch.

So I think you'll be just fine
