Hi Ladies,
Just getting a few opinions from you cloth savvy mumma's!
I have a tonne of brand new Itti Bitti SIO's, Prefolds & Pocket nappies to prewash.
I want to wash them 3-4 times to get the absorbancy as good as possible pre-bub arriving and figured I would make the most of the great weather!
My question is, Did you use washing powder for your pre-washing? Im planning on using Ecostore when the nappies have been soiled, but figured theres no point in wasting powder just pre-washing them?
Also, has anyone had any issue with the colours from the minky covers running? Im washing all the covers sepearate from the inserts anyway but incase...
Last but not least, Ive heard soaking the inserts in cold water for 24+ hours (especially the bamboo and hemp) helps boost absorbancy? any feedback about this?
Okay, I'm not 'savvy' and could be wrong lol but for ME I pre-washed with no washing powder. And as far as I know IttiBittis are colour fasted so they don't run at all. I always washed them all together. I'm not sure on the pre soaking of the inserts tho sorry..
I use Itti Bitt's & have never ever had the colours run.
I'd wash without the washing powder & i use soap nuts over ecostore now. I found ecostore just isn't great, not sure if they changed their recipe but it wasn't cleaning our clothes as well so switched to next Generation.
I only ever washed once before putting on bubs, they take 6-8 washes to gain full absorbency. I'm not sure if soaking would help that?
I check my nappies by poking my finger in between the cover & the insert so judge changing via wetness rather than time so you could do this and you will find you may change more often for the first little while.
Also to preserve elastic hang sideways. So the weight of the wet nappy doesn't drag the elastic down.
