Hi.
Am considering Real Nappies as our cloth nappy option. Can anyone out there who uses them give us some idea about how they are working and would you recommed them?

I have looked on Cloth Nappy forum and there is nothing mentioned about Real Nappies.

Thanks :)

I think they are ok for newborns and young babies that don't move. But as they get older nope not a good option.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I had some when Daniel was lil, they were ok. But I got rid of them pretty fast because I didn't like them.

I've had no problems with them, but Bella isn't crawling yet. I only use them when I'm at home as they're quite bulky and only last a few hours before they leak, but they are OK if my pockets are in the wash or whatever.

I have one (a trial pack) that I use occasionally and have had no problems. All my others are pockets.

I used them on my 2.5 year old till he was almost 2 and didn't like to wear cloth anymore, and I thought they rocked, I cannot reccomend them more highly. However, i used cloth flats folded up in them as oppsed to the prefolds they come with as I found them too bulky. The covers are Bummis wraps, and they are excellent.

Ya someone with a good report I really love the cover's but was looking into pocket's casue they seemed to bunch us and not stay in one place unless I folded to flat's and used pin's did you have this problem? If not how did you fold them in?

I had the bunching problem as well - the covers are great tho! And I think the system would be better on a newborn when you can fold and pin/snappy it onto them, rather than just pad folding.

on char, I use a pin, as she is little, but with Jake, I just folded it into a wide rectangle and did the cover up tight if that makes sense?

I'm using real nappies on Sophie. I love them. The Bummis covers are awesome. Very rarely leak. (She slept for 7 hrs this morning, and was still dry) The real nappies covers are good too. Yes they are bulky, but that doesn't worry me. Maybe when she gets older and moves around more I'll put her into pockets, but for now I will keep her in the prefolds.

Also, I find them very easy to wash, and dry, and I love that they are much much cheaper than pockets! I have heaps of prefolds (way more than I need) because I figured they were so cheap I might as well - especially after buying pockets for Alex, and being used to spending $30+ on one nappy!!

I still use them on my boy. They are a bit harder to put on a wriggly toddler than pockets (just because you have a couple of layers to keep in place), but once on, I find them great & they are my most reliable nappy in terms of leaks. I actually find I can leave them on longer than most of my pockets without getting leaks. I use the stay-dry booster from real nappies inside them too. I also found them really good on a newborn - especially when snappied. Heaps cheaper than pockets too.
