Does any one know why you can't see a specialist until you have had 3 miscarriages in a row?? My friend has now had 4 miscarriages. 2 in between her 1st and 2nd baby and now another 2 in 6 months after having her 3rd. But because she hasn't had 3 in a row she can't see a specialist, but the way she looks at is i've had 4 now I should be able to get seen?? I think that way too. |

I was reading on wikipedia today that if you have had two miscarriages in a row you still have an 80% chance of your next pregnancy working out but if you have three in a row then the chances drop to below 50% so I guess that's why. I found out today that I am having an early miscarriage (was only 5 weeks pregnant) and I hate the thought of having to go through two more before having specialist help. Particularly because I am 35 and it took me 10 months to get pregnant this time.
I friend of mine in Auckland went to a specialist privately a few years ago after having two in a row and I remember she said it cost about $100.

I think its wrong, tht you have to have 3 in a row, ive only had 2 documented in a row, but we are still going to see a specialist, ( i wonder if it has anything to do with funding or such like)...we will be paying to see FA and we dont qualify for public funding.

One of my friend's just suffered her 2nd miscarriage last week, her last one was about 10 months ago. She has a 3 yr old already & is now wondering if she's able to keep the babies. She too, wants to see a specialist NOW, not wait to possibily lose a 3rd baby.

My cousin had a missed miscarriage at around 14ish weeks, and the foetus was sent for testing and she's seen a specialist etc and she's only 25, and that was their first pregnancy. Maybe it depends on who you go through initially? I'm not sure.

yeah i think so too..cause after my missed mc and testing and stuff I'm pretty sure we could get referred to a specialist but it didnt happen as we got pregnant...its just cruel to make people wait till 3 in a row:(
