Topic: REUSEABLE Saliva Ovulation Kits Posted: 20 January 2007 at 5:41pm |
Again has anyone used one of these?
I've used the "Pee on a stick" tests and wondering if it would be easier to try the saliva method.
Does anyone know if one method better than the other?

I tried the microscope (I presume that's what you mean...?) and found it to be completely useless! It showed me to be fertile *during* my period, and infertile when I was ovulating, infertile at the beginning of the day, fertile at the end of the day ...you get the picture I know others have used them and found them good, but for me it just drove me up the wall I haven't tried OPKs, but those are apparently great - and of course, charting is probably the best way.

Hi! iv just posted in your other thread but anyway i bought a 'fertile focus' saliva kit from trademe and it worked great for me! - i got pregnant within the first month but sadly had a MC and then after my cycles came back i used it again and once again (along with temping) within a month i was pregnant again and now 15 weeks! so i recommend them
PS: it does say that you will get ferning when you have your period due to increased hormones and i guess everyone should just know that your not fertile at that stage so to disregard it.

I think the re-useable saliva test is a "GO-ER"!!!
I had another friend who used one and she got prenant that month (saw the ferning they recommend to look out for).
Didn't realise they were available in NZ (my friends one was from the UK).
I'm feeling a bit relieved and excited that if I don't conceive this month that there is another avenue to try for next months - there's hope yet!!!!!
Thanks for your thoughts...........

I had a Fertile Focus microscope Baysmum, and followed the instructions to the letter, but it gave me some seriously weird results. In the end I found myself getting quite worked up about it, so decided to throw it out the window

I have a fertile focus one and it was confusing at first but when I finally saw the ferning - it made it a lot easier to understand. Happy to send it to someone that is keen. I was charting as well as doing the microscope thing. It seemed to work well.

Ginger maybe you got weird results due to your....(sorry baby brain and cant remember ) what you had surgery for (im so embarrassed i do know what it is!! but just cant remember !!)....oh i think it was PCOS???
I found it confussing at first but just as long as you do it 15 minutes after waking up (incase you sleep with your mouth open! lol), before you get up and before you have anything to eat or drink or go to the toilet. You cant do it at the end of the day as your hormones tend to be all over the place!
I was ready to chuck it out the window at one point because it was constantly getting ferning! but it turned out that i was pregnant already! lol.
I hope you have more luck with it soon

I'm really keen to try the saliva test now.
Leish if no-one has taken you up on your offer I'd be keen to take the microscope off you, if you're still offering?
If its gone, no sweat, I think I'll be buying one off trade me..........if we're not successful this month.

I used one and found it ok, the only time i had a positive was when i was on clomid.
Ginger - Reason you got ur positive around ur period is coz u have 2 surges in your cycle one just before AF and the other just before Ovulation.
They are not really any good for people with PCOS.

I used a pee on stick kind "Clear Plan" from america, a girlfriend of mine in Sydney got it for her but didnt even get to use it before falling pregnant. I found it to be great as hubby has low libedo so have to make the most of the "times" that I get so could plan when was good. I had an early mc befor both pregnancys but I guess it was just my body getting ready for babies. Good luck
