scam update

so can't find my original post but thought I would update you all about the discount premium holiday call i received. to recap, they told me I had won a holiday and then asked me for my credit card details and got abusive when i refused.

Well, I rang the newspaper and told them about it, after hearing that three other friends had received the same calls. They published a report with my details but then went on to say that they contacted the company who said that they recorded all calls, and that they would NEVER ask for credit card details or tell people they had won - bascially calling me a lier!

So, the next week another article. this woman came forward with the same story as me BUT she did give them her details and they took $242 from her account! So I WAS right and THEY WERE WRONG!!!!

so whats going to happen to the company?
I wouldnt let my details out that willingly wither, good on you for having some sense as to not giving out your credit card details

dunno. they have had several complaints to the commerce commission. BUT the article also said that they were known by some other name a few years ago, so my bet is that they will change their name and continue doing what they are doing.
