When do you swap up to the next stage?
Ryan's already using 6 month teats but not really on solids but how do you know he's ready for a new formula.
Whats different in the next stage formula's thats not in the stage 1?
Should I wait till  he's reallyu into the solids before introducing something else or if he's not haivng solids will he need the extra stuff in the stage 2 formula??

We swapped Issy over at six months .. as that is what it said to do on the tin lol

I think she was eating some solids but not "properly" and I think but Im not sure that it has more iron? I did ask at the time .. but due to the heat and a thumping headache the information escapes me.
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)

I did it .. 41 kgs gone! From flab to fab in under a year LFs weight blog

The stage 2 formulas are usually casein dominant, which I think basically means they are a bit more filling And yep I think they have extra iron etc? He should be fine to swap over now Just keep an eye on him the first few weeks that he doesnt get constipated, otherwise it shouldnt be a problem

We did things a little differently. BF only til 6 months and then did a combination of BF and stage 1 and solids until 9 months. From then we mixed stage one and stage two formula together (1/4 of stage 2 3/4 of stage 1 and then changed the ratios over a month) (of the same type - probably shouldn't do that?) and solids.   So for us, cath was on stage 2 at 10 months.

Cath had late teeth. First tooth at 6 months.

My watties food chart (the one with the big carrot on it) advises

First foods:4-6 mths onwards. Breast milk or infant formula is still the most importtant food. Offer milk BEFORE solids.

Stage 2: 6-7 months onwards. Breast milk or infant formula is still the most important food. Offer milk BEFORE solids.

Stage 3: 8-9 months onwards. Milk feeds are still important but offer AFTER solids. Baby should have about 600ml breast milk or formula a day.

I got the Watties for baby: guide to baby feeding sheet from my midwife. They have a website. www.forbaby.co.nz

As you can see I didn't follow their guidelines, but it depended on when her teeth arrived so we ended up introducing solids and formula at the same time!

Caden isnt on the Stage 2 yet. I dont think he is quite ready...he is still happy on stage one, the S26 says 6 months and over 240mls so thats what he has. Im going to gradually move him onto the stage 2 when he is 7 months.

They do need more iron after 6 months so if you haven't started solids I would definitly be on the stage 2 formula. Our girls have been on solids since 5months and have been on stage 2 formula since 6 months

We went to stage 2 at around the six month mark. She was on solids at that time too.

Stage 2 formulas have more iron and they reccommend you start at 6 months as that is when babies iron stores they have from birth are depleted, but you don't have to, stage one says birth onwards so you could keep going.

They are whey dominant and actually have less fat and are less filling cos by this stage baby should start getting more and more nutrition from solids, although at early 6 months and weaning how much they got from 2 spoons of baby rice a day I don't know

Its up to you really what you want to do, maybe start ryan on solids first then change his formula over as he isnt quite 6 months yet. Caden has been on solids since 4 1/2 months(started at just babyrice, then one pot of fruit a day and now he has three meals a day and 4-5 bottles). We are changing him gradually to the stage 2 cos he is quite sensitive to formula change, S26 newborn has been the only one that has agreed with him so I am nervous about changing.
