Lauren has some kind of tummy bug/gastro illness. I took her to the doc this morning as she woke up screaming and didn't stop which is very unlike her.

She has been vomiting today and has taken small amounts of formula well diluted (as instructed by the doc), has refused all solids which is fine.

She has been number 2's twice, this morning the motion was "normal", but she has just gone again now and besides smelling revolting, it is quite runny (to be expected), but it has stringy bloody mucus in it. It is fresh looking blood and her poo actually smells like blood IYKWIM.

Do I go back to the doctor? I am not sure what to do?

She is very unhappy today

Peachy, I would ring the doctor, or the nurse at the doctors and ask... They will be able to tell you whether you should take her back.  I would be taking her back to see what he says - nothing to lose, at least you could get told not to worrry...

Poor little button - hugs to both of you!

I would probably go back to the doctor to be honest. Blood in the poos is reason enough to warrant it.

Poor wee girl. Sam had a tummy bug a few months ago and it was miserable. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that she gets better really soon and doesn't pass it on to you all.

Like the others have said, I'd call your doctor given s/he saw Lauren earlier. Wouldn't do any harm calling Plunketline either. Keep pushing the water too.

Oh dear I just got spewed down again, I wish she could give me a bit of warning when the projectile vomit is going to happen She was fast asleep on me and then whamo all over me!

I am going to keep an eye on the bowel motions and if she has another bloody one I will take her to the doc.

It wasn't alot of blood, but it did give me a fright.

another thing is to 'save' the poos in a sterile container. If you aren't going to get into the docs for a while, then Ithink you need to refrigerate.
Yes hydration is the most important.. even if it's just 10/15mls every 10mins.. My boy had rotavirus at about the same age and ended up dehydrated and we had to go into A&E until he was rehydrated...
hugs it's so distressing for all eh!!!
hope she is over it soon!

so many gross bugs going around at the moment, jett had one a few weeks ago.

peanut jett had the nappy rash thing too, it was really bad, turned out to be thrush, doc perscribed some mi-creme and told me to put that on and then zinc ointment over the top.
cleared it up a treat, id cringe every time i "heard" him poo tho as hed just scream when i changd him.

Hhhmm interesting peanut that your boy has something similar. There is lots of gastro type bugs around at the moment I have heard.

Lauren has gone off to bed fine tonight and hasn't been number 2's again today. She happily took a bottle of formula and I b/f her just before bed even though I had weaned her 3 weeks ago. I am still mega engorged so thought breast milk may help to get rid of the germs. I thought it wouldn't hurt anyway.

I hope she is better tomorrow she was so sad today.

Catrad, yip, I am hearing you on the screaming. I went to the Dr's yesterday to get some proper cream for it as knew that regukar cream wouldn't work. I am also just tying a old cloth nappy round his legs so that air etc is getting to it but the poo isn't going on the carpet .

Still not a happy campy today!
