Topic: Sleep, what is that??     Posted: 23 April 2008 at 3:10pm |

I must say that last night was the WORST night we have ever had since having Daniel. I think I preferred him as a newborn compared with the dramas of last night/this morning.

He had his 2nd menzb shot (we have done our delayed from the schedule). He was fine all afternoon. Had a nice sleep mid avo. Ate dinner and was a happy boy. Went to sleep no probs.

9:30pm: wakes up and starts talking to himself
 10:30pm: starts screaming.
10:45pm: still screaming, give pamol and bongela for his tooth
12am: still screaming, decide to have a shower with him and try his night time routine again
1:30am: still screaming, make DH ring healthline as I had run out of ideas
 2am: go for a drive
2:20am: finally he falls asleep we drive home but as soon as we are home, screaming continues
3am: go to the docs, have him checked over and they can't find anything wrong with him but give him phena... something er rather to help him sleep
4am: finally get home and he crashes

He has never screamed like that before. We still don't know what caused it. His leg isn't swollen or anything from the jab so who knows.

 Please let him sleep tonight!

That sounds like what happened with our second one Stacey. No idea what caused it and after a trip to the doctor all was fine. Very weird, but thankfully back to normal the next night

They would have given him phernergan Stacey, it knocks Lauren out aswell. She has to have it everytime we have imms to stop the bad reactions she gets.

I had a night like that last night too, although Laurens was definately her teeth! She slept with us in the end as there was no way she was staying in her cot!

Not so fun is it when they won't sleep!

Cooper did the same thing with his second ones too, you would have thought someone was pinching him.

We were up with him from 4-7 this morning, damn teeth! He's been really out of sorts today, so have I actually

Fingers crossed that he comes right tonight for you.

Oh no! Poor Daniel, and you guys! Hugs!

Mmm phenergan... mum used to dose us up on baby phenergan when we were little to get us off to sleep when we were camping I suppose that wouldn't be very PC now though?!
Hope your day is better than last night?

I wanted him to sleep with us but nothing was helping with his screaming, we tried sitting on the rocking chair, in his cot, in our bed, in his capsule rocking him, pram, walking around. Just constant screaming for hours. He ended up loosing his voice. He seems better today, just tired still.

 Yeah it was phenergan.

 Bloody ims!

Oh no! that sounds horrible - especially the driving around in the middle of the night!

I've heard that phenergan is the thing they recommend to give babies for long haul flights too as it works better than pamol at sedating them (it's an antihistamine right?)

Yeah it is great. I had forgotten that we had it. We used it once when Daniel had a tummy bug. Stopped him puking his guts out.

Sounds like quite a few bad nights all around. Liam had his first menzb jab on Monday. He was good as gold Monday just a bit unsettled, yesterday quite sleepy and last night took awhile to settle and was up at 2am, 4am & 6am and he had a really crap day again today apart from his sleep in the afternoon. Here's hoping for a better night all around aye!!

Well last night was ok. He talked to himself in bed for a good hour before going to sleep but he has only just got up so yay! I could have stayed in bed for a while longer though
