Ok, so my stepkids are coming up for the last week of the holidays, which is all good. DP was going to drive over to get them tomorrow morning (they live 3 hours out of Auckland). Again, all good.

Then, last night we get a text really late from their mum saying "oh, totally forgot to tell you that the kids are getting dropped off to you tomorrow (Thursday night, as in tonight) at 5.30pm". This TOTALLY P*SSES ME OFF. DP is at Uni on Thursday nights til 9pm, so it is my night to have time to myself. I have made plans for me and Joshie which I don't want to change, but because my DP's ex is SUCH A PAIN and can't get her s*it sorted it now ends up that my plans have to change. I'm so very annoyed.

DP can't miss Uni, and I don't want him too - he did offer but it's just not worth it.

It might seem like a silly thing to rant about, but this kind of thing happens a lot, and I've had enough. I love my stepkids, I love them coming to be with us, but we had made plans that suited all of us - ie DP driving to get them tomorrow morning - and now, without any consultation with us she changed the plans and it really doesn't suit. But what can I do??? I can't leave them sitting on the doorstep.

Aaaaaargh, ranty ranty rant!!

Over and out.

Arrggg what a total pain. My friend is like you and has these problems with the ex and children so I can understand a bit how you feel as she tells me all about these problems you have. Hope you can get it all sorted.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Oh man, how super frustrating!!
On the plus side, you get an extra night with the kids and DH saves on petrol $$$

Still annoying though.

Fill them up with Fanta, or even better, raspberry mirinda, and lollies, lots and lots of lollies, before you send them home at the end of the week ... and make them jump around a bit to mix it all up good and proper

OK. Not helpful at all, but did you at least have a wee giggle?

Ooooh Charly, not speaking for joshierocks here, but an extra night isn't always a good thing..... from a wicked stepmothers POV here....

LOL Annie, you really do rock!

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.... and this time NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I had planned to order a pizza, open a bottle of wine and sit on the sofa with my new Oh Baby magazine. After taking Joshie out for a late afternoon tea party!

Still doing the tea party, but the rest of it is out the window

oh the mother of hubbys son said he was exposed to chicken pox when he went to bring him over to meet eden... then he was too sick for his weekend visit then when hubby was going to take him out to dinner before the school hols and he went away she spirited him away to her family up north saying he HAD the pox and would be contagious for ages and this was a week before the hols started... so all in all about 4 weeks... but he was also supposedly exposed to the pox after toby was born too!!! funny thing was when hubby asked him about his spots he was like "huh?"

Rant away! I must confess that not having seen any of my stepkids for months actually suits me quite nicely, and I'm lucky enough not to have any evil exes to contend with.

Man ! i hope I've never been as pathetic and annoying to Caitlyn's stepmother!
Dont *think* ive ever changed plans or anything, though they live in australia , so i cant exactly send her on over   when it suits.....which is often .

Bizzy, does his ailments mysteriously disappear when she decides she needs a break ?
