Just waiting for my next cycle to start and we will start the last big journey of ttc.
Going to not chart or anything like that and just relax for six months and then reevaluate after that. Hopefully it happens quickly and no mc's this time around.
I dont know how McKayla will handle it so we will only tell her at about 3 months. As it is she just wants a baby like in yesterday.
So guess this board will see me a lot in the future. |

Good luck Shirena, I am so excited for you! And I am sure McKayla is going to be thrilled to have a little brother or sister. How is Grant feeling about it?

Grant is ready for another one but he is worried about the actual delivery part and how we will work stuff around McKayla. With her he was in hospital although I was under general Aneastatic (sp?). Over here it seems he wont be allowed. He is also worried about leaving me at night with bubs but at the same time want to be there with McKayla.
But for now we will just try and have fun making that baby. Just really waiting for my period to start and hope it doesnt take too long.

Tell me to buzz off if I am being too nosy, but would you consider a VBAC at all? I can understand if that is too risky though, as I don't know your history with Miss M. Anyhow, even though I've never had a c-section I don't see why Grant couldn't be in theatre with you a second time around? Unless it's an issue with who would care for McKayla?
Like I said before - I am so excited for you guys! I'm sure it will all work out beautifully! |

Nope not trying a VBAC at all. I would have tried it in a heartbeat with my gynea back in SA as I trusted her completely but with the complications I had with McKayla I dont want to try it with someone that doesnt know my history at all.
I was in the first part of labour for about 10 days and she didnt drop at all. My BP started raising (I use to have high BP but was stable for a year before concieving, I get symptomatic at a real low High BP of about 150 over 90) She didnt wanted me to go overdue and to induce might cause stress and not necessary would make McKayla drop.

So we had the cesear which turned out to be a really good thing. McKayla's skull was actually crushed a bit and her head wasnt presented properly. If they did induce it would have made the contractions stronger and faster forcing her down and she would have been struggling for oxygen and gotten stuck. (Some other stuff as well that I dont fully understand myself).

I also tend to bleed a bit if it isnt controlled and an epidural is out of the question due to spina bifida occulta (so either they need a back x-ray before hand) so have to be totally knocked out. Reading and hearing from other people in NZ they dont allow your partner in with the birth if you are knocked out as they are there for you as support and if you are totally out you dont need it.

However I will ask them as he was with me at the previous one and totally know what to expect as I was totally out for that as well but provided a really good oppurtunity for him to bond with baby as he did Kango care with her and he would love to have that experience again. I want at least one parent present at the birth.

First birth was in SA. I kind of know what to expect with a Cesear and dont want to try anything new with someone else. Make any sense? (I am kind of an control freak and it takes me a while to completely trust a new dr.)

Makes perfect sense to me, and thank you so much for sharing that Shirena - I really appreciate it! I can totally understand your decision and wanting to be in control of things, I would probably be the exact same way if I were in your shoes.
My only other comment would be is I would challenge whether or not Grant is allowed in with you if you are under a general, I don't see what good reason they would have to say no - especially if you made it quite clear that it is an important part of your birth plan.

We will definately push for him to be there. Specially seeing he is use to seeing a pipe out of my mouth ect and being totally under. He says he would just like to be there to get to hold baby and knows I will be more at peace with that as well.
And no you havent been nosey. I really did love my experience even if it wasnt the water birth I wanted originally.
