Make lots of lists!
Great idea for the anniversary, that's what DH and I did and got married on the 7 year anniversary of when we started going out. Works well for remembering the date!
The NZ WEdding Planner site is good for lists of things you might want to consider. Having been there, done that, and been a wedding co-ordinator for the odd event, my best advice is to sit down and work out what is important for you and your BF to have on the day and focus on that. Don't get caught up in all the lists of what you 'should' have for a wedding because you will go insane and end up spending money on stuff you really won't care about in the long run. If I could do ours over again I'd simplify it so much and not get sucked in to all the wedding hype! If you can sort out what is important to you before diving in to the wedding industry, you'll find it much easier and quicker to determine what you need to do.

Congrats such an exciting time stressful too!!
I agree with Mazzy Lists help, I also kept a wedding book/ diary to jot down notes and write down info on who I'd rang/ booked and the times i was meeting people e.t.c it was so helpful to have all the info in there plus leaflets, stuff. nothing got lost!
We chatted a lot about what we wanted and made the day about a celebration of us it's easy to get lost in all the wedding hype... it's only one day. but a great day it is !!

Congratulations! DH & I got married on Sept 18 (but way back in 1999!) & I think it's a great month to get married .
I too had a list. I would buy the Bridal Mags & they would have a list of things to do near the back so I ripped that out & ticked off the things once we organised, & crossed off the things I wasn't needing.
I guess the biggest thing is talking to your BF about what you want & get him to organise things as well, load off for you & gets him involved. Also, deligate jobs to other people too, things you REALLY don't need to take on yourself - like picking things up (the cake, flowers, etc) on the day, or day before.
It is a lot of stress, especially in the weeks leading up to the day, but it will be the most fantastic day & all will come together nicely for you!
And plan a bit of pampering for yourself a day or 2 before, will relieve a lot of the stress that builds up in the muscles & make you feel brand new for your BIG DAY! ALL THE BEST .

Congratulations!
Whereabouts in the country are you? If Auckland, I'd start looking at venues ASAP as those can book really quickly esp for a Saturday/Sunday wedding.
Also look at dresses if you can - it took me a while to decide what I wanted and then it takes a while to get ordered/made.
Good luck

Aw thanks you guys :D We'll to answer all the questions: 22nd of september is a monday, we're looking at this place thats in cashmere that is doing a deal with the spit roast company so you get the whole lot on one bill, um, yes i'm in christchurch (well rangiora, but close enough)I have complete freedom with organizing - Matt doesnt care about anything, as long as I stick to my budget. He just has to write the cheques and show up on the day. What else.. oh wedding cars are no prob - his dad is in the hot rod club. thats all i can think of right now.. got a whole 2 hours sleep cuz im too excited!

CONGRATS!
Good luck with your planning MissAngel! I found it quite fun (at times!) organising our wedding (we were engaged for nearly 2 years though, so lots of planning time!) Totally agree on having lots of lists, being organised and definitely check out the NZ Wedding planner site! and agree with Italiah about the pampering for yourself! The two weeks prior to our wedding I was running on pure adrenalin but was really calm on the day.

Congratulations and good luck with you planning, totally recommend you come visit 2008 brides on NZWP.
September is a great time to get married, its not the season so you should be able to get your pick of venues, photographers etc.

hi MissAngel, I have been going through this for the last six months, and here are my tips:
*I brought a whole pile of old wedding mags off TM, lots of good ideas in them
*A notebook with lists of things to do
*A diary with the dates of things like hairdresser & beauty palour apptments
*Some of my extended family are involved doing different tasks for me leading up to the day
*Using clubs for transport is a great idea as they usually only require a donation, we are using a vintage tractor with a cart behind
*We made our own invitations
And as others have said if you want to keep it simple, don't get sucked into lots of expensive extras that are really not needed
Also congratulations & most of all make sure you enjoy your day, so delegation and family help really helped take the pressure off of me Let me know if you want to know where we saved lots of money with different things.
Yah only ten days to go for us!!

Just forgot to add I also found the laptop invaluable for invitations, guest lists, keeping a copy of our vows on etc. Then they are on there for always and you can check back and update your rsvp list as you go especially for forgetful people like me!

Haha yea. Laptop = my best friend hehe.
I just went and bought the new bride and groom mag, and discovered they have a bride show down here in chch in april, so i'll be able to go to that one - still heavly preggers however :P I will be making my own invites - i've been getting lots of ideas from the internet, and spotlight is my friend as far as materials go :P the chch one is so fab! I unfortunatly dont have a lot of people who can help as far as the planning goes - of course I have my mum who lives in the same town as me, but screw letting his mum get involved. That woman is a force to be reckoned with at the best of times! I might fly my sister down in the next few weeks so we can go look at things and start thinking about themes etc. I'm gonna wait to do the dress after baby is born - I vaguely know what I want, so its not gonna be too hard - still gives me plenty of time to get it made. Gratz on your upcoming wedding jaxs, I hope the day goes really well for you!!
