Topic: So, uh...Is this what I think it is....? Posted: 30 January 2008 at 4:23pm |
Hey ladies...
Just wanting some advice from those of you 'in the know'... Baby should be here any day now, and on Sunday, Monday and again today I've been on mammoth walks, we've jumped on the right foot and done the bad thing a couple of times, I've seriously been doing everything I can think of to try and start things going, or at least helps things soften up...
ANYWAYS! Since about noon, I've been getting the tightenings and crampy 'period pain/diahorrea' feeling, then at about 2 these were accompanied my an ache in my lower back, then for the last hour or so these two things have been joined by a sudden cramp like feeling in my inner thighs up by my nether regions and a really unpleasant pain in my bum - lots of pressure and a short sharp twinge that makes me stop in my tracks and I can't move until it passes.
I've been timing these, and the cramp and back pain is more or less constant, dying down every now and then, but then about every ten minutes or so I get the sharp cramp like pain in my pelvic area, thighs and bum... They are getting a bit more frequent and they're most definately getting more painful.
So should I keep an eye on things and ring the midwife when/if things become 5 minutes apart... Or should I ring now and just run things past her and see what she says?
Alright... Well thanks in advance - And boy oh boy, I hope this is it!

If you can, jump in the bath (it can be a cool one!). If its BH things will stop, if they carry on you're having contractions
Fingers crossed its labour!

Oooohhhh, I hope so, certainly sounds all on!! Yup period-type cramps that start building up in intensity usually are a fairly good indicator. Maybe just wait a couple of hours to see how things pan out before calling MW...? Keep us posted!

jumping in the water is a good way to tell if it's labour and if they have a peak to them or not....if they are getting more intense, it sounds promising!
i hope it is labour........can't wait for an update!

Are you home by yourself? I wouldn't get in the bath if there's no one there with you. Maybe a shower would be safer.
Definitely sounds like it could be it.

or lie down and try to get a snooze - normally if its bh it won't stop - if you fall asleep and wake and its stopped you know it wasn't the real thing...
Good luck

Oooo Serenity, I would call your midwife just to let her know what's happening and ask her opinion... I'm sure she would rather be in the know!
I really hope it's labour for you...!!!!

SOunds the same as mine. I remember going for a walk on the Monday and having to suck it in every 12 minutes...like period pain. Not quite enough to stop me but it definately slowed me down when it hit. It was all on Monday night and TOm was born on Tuesday.
Have you packed your bags?
