Gosh I saw that last night. That must have been such a horrible experience for everyone involved especially the poor driver.

Oh yuck really, I saw the start and then turned it off cos I didnt want to see it. My friends were heading to nelson on the weekend and came across an accident. One had to sit with the guy who is still in critical condition and they thought he was dead while the other took his young girl friend to get help and keep her talking etc... she said it was horrible. I couldnt imagine seeing something like that.

I was lucky I didn't see the accident itself, I arrived on the scene a couple of minutes after it happened. My workmate however was right behind the driver so saw the whole thing!

I eneded up directing traffic for about 2 hours (while 8 weeks pregnant!!!!) and was there when she died...that's the part that stuck with me. I was fine while on the scene but once I got to work I had to be sent home 'cos I totally broke down remembering the screaming from the lady's kids (late teens). My workmate didn't even make it to work...we sent her straight home from the scene with her hubby.

It was horrible!

Two things that came from it though...drive carefully - you never know what can happen!! (not that it would have changed anything in this case).

And do a first aid course!! I didn't have to use mine but I was calm in that I knew what to do on the scene and could have done CPR had 2 people not already been doing it.

We were watcgin that last night. I didn't get to watch the whole thing as I was busy with other problems but it looked nasty.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Gosh it really affects you doesn't it? It must have been awful to watch last night Paws!
I had a similar experience when I was in high school. Was fine until I got to school and then completely lost it.
I still get the shivers thinking about it 10 years later, and can't stand the thought of it happening to anyone I know.
