There's not much you can take Sunshine. Perhaps a nice hot drink with lemon and honey. You can take panadol but that's not likely to help your throat. I think most throat lozenges say not for use in pregnancy but I think you can use bee propolis lozenges - available at health food stores.

I had a really sore throat during pregnancy and my midwife advised that I could take the standard Strepsils...like the honey and lemon ones. Not the ones that have the numbing stuff in them or anything fancy. I think the pharmacist said no, as like a lot of things like that, they might be safe in pregnancy but the companies haven't spent the money on the testing to establish that they truly are safe...although anecdotal evidence indicates that they're fine.
I'd flick a text through to your midwife and see what she says though, just to be on the safe side.

I tried to get stuff today for a sore throat & the chemist wouldn't give me the Comvita lozengers with propolis in them - I have to see my Dr first
Lemon & Honey drinks are a good idea though - and lots of sleep

I was told the standard strepsils are ok as well. I also used the vicks drops. I would think that as long as your no planning on eating by them by the handful you wouldn't need to worry about it doing any harm.

had a sore throat the other week, and the dr wouldn't let me use any of the lozengers (think he is really conservative thou), he suggested that drinking lemon and honey drinks was the best thing, or you can get manuka honey lozengers which are just all honey (they are expensive thou)

I had a really bad flu when pregnant with DS and I was given the pure honey lozenges from the pharmacist at the chemist. They sound lovely but taste awful lol, they did the trick though Also honey & lemon drinks were great.

you could try just a teaspoon of honey? I've been known to do that in the middle of the night if I have a sore throat with a cold.

Just for another 2cent worth - get to the DR to check your throat, mine started last wed, and now I've been told I have strep throat & need 10days of antibiotics on the plus side I'm having an enforced rest from work (lucky I have a tonne of sick leave)
And yea both MW & Dr both laughed when i said no one would sell me lozengers, they just said to not eat them like they are going out of fashion
Also did you know panadol wont cross at all into the placenta? I was unaware and barely taking any for headaches etc, good to know it has no affect what so ever on bubs!
