DH and I are going to stay in Auckland in Feb. Its just at the moment no kids. We want to stay in the CBD and aren't planning on having a car.

Any tips on where to stay? I'm looking online and there is so many hotels but I have no idea about the area. We will be going out at least one night but also want to do Kelly Tarltons so would like to be close to public transport.

DH has only even driven through Auckland and has never stayed there so any recommendation of things to do would be great

I haven't lived in Auckland for years! What I do remember is the transport hub is at the bottom (water front) end of town and public transport is challenging - maybe it's gotten better?
I love the zoo, but that's for the kids! How about dinner in the revolving resturant at the top of the sky tower?

If you stay in the central city you are never far away from the bus. Why not stay at the casino?
