Well its time for me to upgrade my car. I currently have a 3 door hatchback and with baby number 2 on the way I really need a 4 door.

I'm looking at either a 2002 + Subaru Impreza or Corolla (Allex). Any thoughts? My dad said Subaru's are trouble, but I really like the look of them!!

We have had both a subaru and a toyota. The toyota was more expensive to buy, but cheaper on gas and maintenance. The subaru was a lot cheaper to buy, and is generally reliable, but when it does go wrong, its expensive & complicated (we have subi legacy wagon). The subi also guzzles gas.

Check out the cost of insuring the different type vehicles, I downgraded from a subaru to a mazda and pay a lot less insurance now. Generally its turbo subarus that cost you more in maintenance/insurance than the bog standard ones but with most cars keep on top of general maintenance and you would be fine.

No2 on the way here and Im looking at buying a station wagon as the hatch boot is a little too small for long term

We have an 04 Corolla. Plenty of space, very reliable and they came out in a range of engine sizes - ours is only 1500cc (it's our number 2 wagon) and is incredibly economical to run.
