My baby is almost a year old and last summer we pegged a large muslin over her Mountain Buggy which kept the sun off her. It was marvellous.
But now that's she older, she can pull the muslin down so it's ineffective. I've tried getting her to wear a sunhat but she pulls it off her head.

How can I keep the sun off my baby? Do babies get really hot underneath those buggy shade things? Or will she be too big for one of those? If you've got a baby that's a year old, what do you use? Hat? sunglasses? Sunshade?

Sorry, not a year old but he rips down muslins too. I have an outlook pram cover. Its a mesh/uv fabric thingy that valcros to the pram. I rate it. this is the closest thing i can find on the website mine looks a bit different but you get the idea. Got it from farmers.

I have a P&T and I got the sunshade cover it keeps the sun off and provides protection from the wind.
I also use Aveeno for babies sunscreen on DD have done since she was 3 months old.

DD takes off hats as well will be interesting to see how we get on this coming summer she does have sunglasses will have to get her to wear them as well.

we use one of the outlook mesh covers too - really good for providing shade and blocking wind. When we get new pram (soon!) we will buy both rain and shade covers that come with it.
For sunscreen, last year I used nivea kids - its really zincy (good for me cos I'm so pasty!) and worked really well. This year I have some Babu stuff, but yet to test it.

We found the best sunhat at staying on was one of those old fashioned bonnets, they come down the back and tie around the neck, and have a peaked front - we have a little houdini, and she is yet to get that one off!

We've got the mountain buggy shadecloth and I LOVE it. It zips on, keeps him nice and cool, and is really easy to use. I liked to use it to keep him dark when he was younger and I wanted him to sleep. I used it last year in a pretty hot Aussie summer, and it kept him cool rather than got him hot, and although I've only used it with him as a baby, he wouldn't be too old for it now - or, I imagine, in a year or so.

Same here - we have the MB one for our pram. I think it was only about $40 and it's great...keeps him cool and protected from the sun....money well spent I reckon! |
