Topic: super absorbent night nappy? Posted: 28 May 2010 at 8:52am |
Hi girls,
Disposables just aren't work for night anymore, I've lost count of the nights in row we've had leaks - I think we're up to 6. I've tried adding in the inserts from my ittibittis and even doubled it over and put it at the front and the nappy is still saturated and leaking. I've obviously got one crazy heavy wetter.
I'm going to try a bigger size tonight and maybe order a cover but I think maybe cloth is the way to go. Do you guys know of any cloth that are more absorbent than huggies/treasures?
I'd rather not pockets I think as the two pockets I've got seem to leak out the back in 5 mins - not sure if I'm doing something wrong there but just guessing that don't work for us.
Recommendations greatly appreciated, especially if you had a similar problem

Oh! I feel your pain! My son used to be just like that....I tried many nappies - sposies & cloth! He leaked out of almost everything!
I did have success with a totsbots flexitot boosted with 2 bamboo boosters and a Bummis cover.
I am using on my daughter a Pop-In dream dri with nite booster and that is fantastic! I think this would have worked for my son too.
Good luck - the night leaks are no fun

Where do you get the Pop-In dream dri? I'll look at both of those and maybe buy one of each to test them out.

Daniel leaked through everything. We would find something that worked for a while then he would leak through that. Hes still a very very heavy wetter at night but have you thought of trying a combo of cloth and sposie, its what we do..
Daniel has a sposie and then a pocket over top with one insert inside. Its used more as a cover and then the insert soaks up any potential leaks.
Also don't use pjs that have elastic around the tummy, go for an all in one so theres no pressure on the nappy area.

Cool thanks guys. I might try the pocket over the top tonight instead of the bigger size as have a nudey rudey I was thinking of selling. Fingers crossed that does the trick otherwise I'll buy one of the other two.
I emailed one of the cloth nappy websites just before and they also recommended that Pop-In dream dri.

every time we used sposies overnight they leaked (even now when I haven't been on top of the nappy washing! )....but never ever had a leak with the itti bitti boo's (fitted) plus a wool soaker (or you could use another cover). Honestly can't rave enough about them
we did try a few differrent ones before the bitti boos, but although they worked really well (happy hempy fitted), DD could hardly move for how padded they had to be!

Another vote for Bitti Boos here. They are awesome. I have a snazzipants cover on them.

The pocket over the disposible worked last night - yipee!! Was great to not have more leaks. So I'll try that but only have two pockets a nudey rudey and a pea pod so might order a Pop In and see how that goes and maybe then try the bitti boo.

Ah good thread. I've been having trouble with sposies at night too. They are always leaking, I tried a pocket cover with an insert last night and it still leaked.
I think I'll get a couple of bitti boos. What covers do you use? Is it just a pocket nappy overtop?

Oh how annoying MamaT. My Pea Pod was too small so I've got a totsbots over a disposable tonight - hopefully it works.
I've heard great things about the Bummis whisper pants.

We found peapods leaked like crazy during the day so we'd never use them overnight
We use BabyLuv pockets with 2 microfibre inserts overnight adn they're FAB. Never had a leak- they last about 13 hours...any more than that and it can get a bit hairy lol
Failing those, Imse Vimses AIO's are great too but that take ages to dry whereas the Babyluv don't. And you can buy them off Trade Me for pretty cheap (think I paid about $50 for 5/6 delivered?).

I am feeling ever so lucky for my light wetter... fuzzi with normal insert and bamboo trifold and its on for 12-14 hours and no leaks.... in fact 6 out of 7 nights its not even "full" when we change him in the morning....
Feel for you who have trouble!

I've ordered my bitti boo and whisper cover and a Pop In as well as a bunch of boosters for my itti's to stop the leaks during the day. Fingers crossed that does the trick as that was another $150 I didn't really have
I think I'll use the others over disposables as back up as they've been working really well but if I can get away with no disposables at all then that's even better

I use NapNaps night nappies with a small prefold as a booster and bummis whisper pants. works great. My girl sleeps for 12-13 hours and hardly ever have a leak.

Ive used mybaby osfa nappy at night, trailed it twice and they lasted all night 12hours
I had 3 microfibre inserts and a hemp one and it worked well.
Must start using cloth at night now more often :)
