Anyone know where in Auckland you can take babies swimming? And how old they have to be?

I am fairly sure they need to be around 5-6 months before you take them swimming. They recommend that you have given them the first 3 immunisations as the pools can carry lots of nasties!
I am looking at booking Samantha into swimming lessions at a swim school in Albany in the next little while which I hear is really good.

It depends on the pool - I used to work in one if you have any questions you can PM me. But the child usually has to be 6 months old as that is when they can regulate their body temp. I took Andrew at 3 months and Josh at the same age and had no issues (I did swim throughout both pregnancies I don't know if that helped with them taking to the water or not) with them.

I know some pools used to say that they couldn't swim until they were older as the Huggies Little Swimmers didn't fit children until they were older but now with cloth swim nappies you can get them to fit a baby at 3kgs.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

we found most were six months and in end havent needed to take Ella as she "swims" in our HUGE spa bath and had a ball of a time in a self fill spa we had in our motel in rotorua....we have a total water baby!

if you are out east there is swim one in east tamaki and also a really popular one in mt wellington / panmure....by the new netball courts....think they both use non chlorine water.

im on the goldcoast atm (yeah i know , nice for some) and my dp who is 6 ft stands in the deep end of the pool at the house we are staying at and its up to his chest, my clever mermaid daughter can dive right down to the bottom and pick up the golf ball that her 2 year old half brother throws to her ,she can also do freestyle to the other end of the pool and do a backwards somersault under water and two forwards ones in a row, such a water baby,im so glad she had swimming lessons.
(sorry, just had to have a little brag there)
