The bloody idiot called me "silly".. yep thats right told me i was silly... because i said he doesnt have an open door policy.

He didnt even read the letter i gave him.

I left the office - when he called me silly i said this meeting is over and walked out.

i am furious....   Oh and apprently the teachers have taken offence at my tone of voice and feel anxious about me. apparently you shouldnt look in the toilets and let the staff know when there is poo on the toilet wall, or sit in the carpark at lunch and watch my kids because i was concerned about bullying....

What did hubby say?

To be honest Bizzy if it was me I would take this further and if I dont get satisfactory answers I will move the kids. (this seems to be a situation that is not gonna get any better.)

I think it is time to change schools if that is possible.

Definitely take it further! He sounds defensive, which makes me think maybe there is more going on?? Either way, he sounds like an ass!

Was this the principal? They say that you can tell how good a school is by how the principal runs the school and if thats the case then you have to wonder what else is happening behind the scenes that you are not aware of. Will the teachers now treat your kids differently now based on what has happened?

I do think it needs to be taken further. A school should be able to hear parents and there concerns and act accordingly but it doesn't sound like that is happening. What would the next step be? Mediation?

bummer...sounds to me like he has spent too much time dealing with kids and not enough dealing with adults. I would be looking at other schools myself.

Bizzy I got hubby to read through the posts on this situation. The only thing that he mentioned (and in no way is this defending any way the principal acted as it was completely irresponsible) is that perhaps some of the teachers or staff that you did spoke to in passing misunderstood you when you mentioned some things to them.

Like for instance the notice board with wrong times on or the bathroom. Even though you were helping they might find that it is just critic and that you are not happy with things and it might put them on the defensive.

And that perhaps it might be better instead of saying ABC is wrong ask if you can help get people together to help the school fix ABC.

Hope I am making sense here. But this principal seriously need to get onto a Basic Communication course as he seems to be a complete >>>>>>

Oh my goodness, there's no way he should have spoken to you like that, no matter what. So unprofessional!

Did you manage to write to the BOT? If he's not going to listen to you they have to, it's their job.

Big hugs, I hope you have some progress soon - I understand this must be driving you nuts!

Doesn't say much for the school's ability to deal with bullies when the Principal seems to be a bully himself!

thanks guys...

Smoody he did say i had negative things to say - and i suppose in some respects they were - but surely that is how people and schools improve...they take the negative and turn it around. i know with the sign being wrong i tried to joake about it and smiled and they seemed to see the humour in it too - or so i thought!

there is a part of me that doesnt want to do anything else. i dont want it to all get out of hand and affect the kids. they both like their teachers and Gabriel is making progress at last with his writing. i have a friend who is on his BOT so i thought i might ask him what would happen next if i wrote and complained. I dont know why i hadnt thought of him sooner... lol!

my plan A is to leave it all and just go to school and be miss-smiley-charming-ask-about-the-weather-and-the kids-only. they want parents who dont involve themselves i can be that.

its driving me nuts! i am so annoyed - i just wanted to be ivolved!

Bizzy don't change yourself to keep them happy.

If you want to be more involved in your childrens education, then dambit you do that!!!! Don't let him bully you into thinking you should step back!!!!!

I say take it further. If this is the reaction hes giving you, what reaction do other parents get? Maybe there just needs to be one parent to have the guts to take it further, and a whole lot of problems will arise....

oh no Bizzy, I'm shocked. What a sh*t position to be in.
I thought he would have a decent conversation with you & you could both clear the air.

I know you don't want to take it further & you need to do what is best for you. I would document all that was said & put it in a letter to the Board or keep it for future reference if required.

However I would not stop being in there face & pulling them up over things you think need attention. Go to the BOT meeting & parent teacher meetings. You need to be involved in your children's education & in their school. That is just being a parent.

Are you friendly with any parents?

Bizzy I honestly dont know what I would do. As you say the kids are happy and you dont want to unnecessary move them but if things dont improve I would or if anything would come back to my kids.

Dont for one second back down with anything to do directly with your kids. So dont stop speaking to their teachers or anything.

...I haven't followed this all to know exactly what all the concerns have been, but did comment on your letter earlier....

It's unfortunate that todays meeting didn't leave you feeling more positive.

I think if it were me, I'd take a step back and focus on the positives that you can see - namely, your children's classroom teachers and your children's progress. From what you've said, that's going really well, and that's fantastic. The other things, perhaps leave them for someone else to notice & worry about...
