Topic: the uncertianity of it all!! Posted: 02 March 2008 at 4:21pm |
hey ladies just need to have a bit of a rant as the uncertainity of every thing is starting to get to me. especially as the ob at waikato was soo rude and horrible last thursday.
-first we find out we are having twins and i will have to deliver at waikato,
-then we find out that one twin is bigger then the other so i also go under the care of an ob at waikato and have regular scans,
-then at one of the scans at waikato they say twin A MAY have a heart problem,
-after a trip to auckland hosp we find out that she does infact have a heart problem but as no-one can get a clear enough view of her heart to actually get a good look they dont know how bad it is and if she will need surgery in the few days after she is born and they would like me to deliver in akl hosp, but also said if i go into labour natrually to go to waikato and then transfer up to auckland,i go under the care of another ob, a cardiac specialist dude, a cardiac nurse and another midwife(who i am yet to meet),
-then at my appt on thursday at waikato the ob pretty much says that they dont want me delivering up there and i should go straight to auckland if i go into labour. if i do deliver in waikato they will transfer twin A to akl and then twin B and i can follow up at a later date.which means being seperated for who knows how long!!
so not only do i have no idea when, where, or even how i am delivering i have a team of 2 midwives(i still see my first one), 2 obs,a nurse, a peadiatric cardiology specialist and 2 hospitals.
and then once they are born its the question of will she need surgery or can her problem be fixed with out, how long will she be in hospital for, where will twin B and i stay, what about df and tash!!!!
argh there is so much to think about and try to figure out. i have another scan and appt in auckland on the 13th so hopefully i can sit down with someone and just sort everything out as best as can be done

Geez thats a horrible situation! I hope you can get some sort of plan sorted out with them soon.
Can they transfer you by ambulance up to auck when/if you go into labour so you are all in the same place?

poor you - this must be such a worry for you (which you certainly don't need).
I hope that whatever happens, that it all goes smoothly and your wee one with the heart problem is fine *hugs*

Hugs What an awful situation to be in. I think I would try and push what kebabat said about getting transferred to akld once you go into labour. All the best to you.

Hugs, sounds like you are in a pretty scary (not to mention frustrating!) situation! I hope the Akl specialist can give you a more concrete game plan.
And you and Twin 2 are welcome to stay here if you do end up being stuck in Auckland, and we have plenty of room for Tash and DH if need be too. That is if the gremlins don't scare you too much!

That does sound pretty frustrating, I hope you get some answers very soon! Hopefully they can get a better look at the heart and be a bit more definite about that before birth.

Oh Hollie, I feel for you hun!
I went through the heart thing as well (twice) and then bubs came out fine. Not saying that might happen to you, but just remember it is a possibility. We had to have the growth and heart specialists in (I think 8 people in total ) as they had no idea what to expect. But with twins, oh I feel for you. They really should be giving you a definite place to birth where you and the twins don't have to be separated. That's just bad IMO.
