Topic: The Zoo... Posted: 04 September 2006 at 1:11pm |
Does anyone else have toddlers/preschoolers that watch the zoo on a Sunday night? Mine does, and she was quite upset that Nisha the tiger was sick last night. NOt sure how to break it to her that next week Nisha kicks the bucket - me thinks there is going to be major waterworks, and not just from Maya!

Andrew loves the zoo, we took him to Wellington Zoo a few months ago and he had a ball. He doesn't watch it on TV thou and I some how don't think i'll start watching it next week if that is going to happen. He loves watching crocodile hunter thou - he must remember Australia Zoo from when we took him there at age 3 months!!!

LOL deborah she asks me if it's Sunday every morning to see if it's on!
It's a few months since Nisha died tho, we went to the zoo the following week and were disappointed that the tiger was gone. It would have been early May? I guess the show is a bit behind the times. I would have thought the new one wouldbe here by now tho - unless they postponed it after she died?

They were sad for nisha too but dont quite understand about death yet. I just told them the docs gona make her better. Wow now I have to think of what to say next week. Will just have to tell them shes playing with our dog milo ...or maybe that shes sleeping. Will have to wait and see

I told Maya this morning that Nisha's going to heaven. I thought that was a 'nice' way of putting it, especially since we say prayers every night for her aunty and uncle etc. etc. up in heaven.
Until she said "Yeah righ Mama. Only dead people go to heaven and NIsha's not dead". I sooo didn't know she 'got' the whole death thing yet...

Its a hard one eh? Ella got quite worked up seeing them doing all the tests etc on Nisha. I told her that Nisha was sick and they were making her better. Not sure how to tackle the whole death thing, maybe we'll just have to distract her and skip this episode.

I cried! The keepers get really upset too. i cried when the camel died too and I hate camels usually. Luckily Jake doesn't understand, he just says "tiger. grrrr" and thats about as much as his comprehension goes. he will be the only one in his age group that can tell his gibbon from his chimpanzee from his cotton-top tamarin however.
