Topic: Things are about to change for me.. Posted: 10 September 2007 at 11:47am |
And no I'm not pregnant again before you all ask!!
Well looks like my time as SAHM is finally coming to an end. We're reaching a point where I finally need to go back to work. It's going to really suck but you have to do what you have to do right?
We kinda knew it was heading in this direction for the last four weeks. We've been doing a course through church and something that re-emerged as a major passion for me is the police. I almost went for it about 4-5 years ago but of course instead settled down and got married. Now it's all come back again and being re-thought out very very carefully. (now you all know the real reason behind my getting back into weight training etc!)
So I'm putting in app for a civilian police role (same one as someone else here as it happens. No we couldn't get you off any tickets!!!!) and if that doesn't pan out I'm going to apply back to the contact centre at Air NZ. I'd rather go back to shift work, penal rates make it far more worth it money wise and last time I was there I was expected to apply for team leader so at least I have somewhere to work to in that.
Long term goal is not ruling out applying for the force, hopefully around the age of 35. *gulp*
All pretty exciting but at the same time

One of my friends has applied for the Police. He's passed all their tests and is just waiting on them to call with a placement!

Oh Paws I'm so sorry about you not being able to carry on as a SAHM - I'm sure it was a hard decision for you and DH to come to.
It's really good though that you have that firm goal in front of you, and you'll make such a fabulous Mrs Plod
All the best with job applications etc ... it's a pain in the butt, but here's hoping you get what you're after!

And 10 mins after my last post I got a call from the contact centre asking me for a chat on Thursday, bypassing the normal recruitment system!

Yay! That you are looking to follow your passion but that you're not totally excited about it. I hope that everything works out exactly as it is meant to and that the road to working life goes smoothly for you and your family.

Wooooohooooo! Glad to hear things are going so smoothly... even though it might not be particularly ideal.
