I have had a rear seat and a front seat. I much prefer the front seat and so do both of my boys. I picked it up cheap of trademe and it has been fantastic. The balance on the bike is much better than the rear seats.
I also have a trailor for the back which holds two kids and also converts to a push chair. Its awesome. I also got that off trade me for a decent price. Currently I have my little boy (15 months) and my big boy (3 years) in the trailor. I just do casual biking like to the park or to my parents. Sometimes I load it all in the car and go over to the waterfront to ride...but mainly just around my neighbourhood.

I had my boys in the front seat from about 8 months. They could sit up confortably and the seatbelt is very secure. They need to be about 18 months before they can be in the trailor...according to my trailor instructions

I'd love to do the Otago Rail trail as a family in a few years... I reckon those bike trailers are the way to go for anything long distance... I didn't realise you could get one with two seats though - now I'm excited... I love the idea of DH having the trailer with two kids and me biking behind... (number 2 isn't even born yet, but heh I can make plans lol)....

our trailer is providing they can sit well by themselfs for periods of time.

Hey,

Sorry to be bumping this thread much later on!

I am just looking at bike trailers. And a few of you have mentioned you have them.

I was wondering which model/make you have. Do you like it? I have spotted one on trademe that looks reasonable price. Compared to those in bike stores around $400-$500.

Has everyone has waited until their baby is 18 months old to use it. Our DS is quite big framed for his age, so I was wondering if we could use it from 1year old.

TIA for any opinions/thoughts
