Hi, does anyone have any tips for my daughter to help stop her getting car sick? Since she has moved into the next size up car seat she has been really bad, ive tried using other peoples seats but it doesnt seem to make a difference. Have just had a look online at some things but hoping you lovely ladies will have tried some things that will work. Thanks

Is her eye level lower than the window now? She might have been higher up in the previous seat???

I wish I knew the answer. DS2 gets severe car sickness, but only one longer drives, and only 50% of the time - I don't know why though.. We just try to keep an eye on him and pull over regularly for fresh air etc....

I used to suffer from car sickness as a kid (though I don't think I ever got to the point of throwing up). Mum used to give me snacks which definitely helped and like Xela said stopping regularly for fresh air.

Kel, i think it is because she used to sit higher but it seems that all the booster seats that ive tried are the same?

Snacks dont seem to help her, am going to try and get something from the pharmacy or health store because she starts preschool next week so 3 days a week we'll be going to town

Have you tried those accupressure wristbands? I don't get carsick, but my cousins do frightfully, trips in the car with them were always a very risky business. Now that they're grown up, one still suffers from nasty travel sickness, and she says she finds the bands very helpful.

I never got carsick as a kid, but I do now as an adult.

I can't do ginger anymore, as between carsickness and trying to ward off morning sickness, I overdid it and now the thought of ginger makes me ill.

I find the bands very helpful.

I have got carsick ever since I was little and I still do even now so I feel so sorry for your wee girl!
Things that help me are looking out the window at the horizon (although that would be hard to explain to a wee one), stopping frequently for fresh air (although that needs to be done before it gets too bad or otherwise it won't really work), sipping something refreshing but not too sweet like lime mizones. Also try and make sure she's not focusing on something in the car, like a toy or a book, for too long.

I hope you find something that helps, carsickness is miserable! Good luck!

I'm 30 plus years of suffering car/sea/air sickness, even been sick when I was the driver!!... so heres my 10 cents worth.

1. blackmores ginger pills are great. However the pills are quite big and you have to keep taking them if you don't you will get sick.

 2. wristbands are good too, just make sure they don't slip up and down. I used these all through my pregnancy for morning sickness.
 3. Some foods set me off, eg coffee, baked beans and eggs. However a good old sausage roll and a bottle of ginger beer sets my stomach up for a long trip. And stops me being sick.
4.The driver... my husband can drive so I'm sick and so I'm not. He knows the difference, now there are 2 kids and a dog that spew he drives nicely. That being said there are two roads in the north island I still can't drive over without being sick.
5.The car, some cars I always get sick in. Holdens are particularly bad and mitsuibishi outlanders.
 6. Sealegs pills worked well as a kid, but I got used to them so would have to take more than the stated dose to make them work after a few years.
 Hope that helps

Can you put her booster in the centre so she's higher? Do you have airbags in the front? If not that may help? I only have issues myself I'm not looking out a window.

DD get it bad too (and me, ick).
It was also worse just after we got her new carseat and I think one of the problems is that she's excited by its newness and keeps looking at it.
I don't give her anything to play with in the car, I figure it's like reading in the car, she'll be looking at her toys instead of out the window.
I try to plan longer trips around her nap time, she doesn't get sick if she sleeps.
We use some homoeopathic tablets that work about 50% of the time. Travel Well or something like that. She eats them because they're a special treat .
Hopefully travelling the same road several times a week to preschool will help your girl and she might sleep on the way home each time

Yep definately the middle seat if you can so she can see out the front. I will/would always get sick if I couldnt see out (Vans especially!!).

and driving nicely, my husband does that too Humum!
