Topic: TMI - Miscarriage? What is going on! Posted: 22 April 2009 at 9:11am |
Hi guys,
Warning TMI ahead!
I have always had really regular cycles, until last month I ovulated a week later than normal which ment my AF was a whole week later than normal too - talk about getting your hopes up!
Anyway, I am in the middle of my cycle and for the past 5 days I have been spotting brown blood. Sort of like stringy stuff which is what I normally get for 1/2 a day before AF arrives.
Last night I passed quite a large clot - well I presume it was a clot. It is hard but also kind of soft kind of like meat I guess and it was a very dark red kind of purple type colour, I put it on a tissue incase it needs to be tested or whatever and on the tissue is red blood which has come off this "thing"
Last night after this I started spotting more red rather than brown.
I dont get what is going on? Do you think its a miscarriage or something more serious?
I really think that we missed this month as I was away when I ovulated.
Help!

Didn't want to read & run, I know when I was in the same situation as you, re clots my one had pale pink as well, but my clot was when my AF was 10 days late.
When is your AF due? another week?

Could be early AF with a big uterine wall lining clot. I'm usually quite regular and then this month AF decided to show 5 days early!

i had something similar a while ago and doc determined it was a burst cyst. i got it somewhere around when i should have ovulated i think (memory is a bit vague now) it was pretty gross and in my case quite painful but that is not always the way

Thanks for your messages, ouch that sounds painful Monikah! How did the doctor know that was the case? Did you take it in with you?
Well Ive stopped spotting now - so it was basically as soon as this "thing" came out the spotting went red for a hour then now nothing.
Anyone else have any advice etc?

Hi Booboo, didn't want to read and run but I'm not sure what that would be. If it was me I would probably go to the drs to have a chat about it. Knowing how useless most GPs are though they will probably just take a "wait and see" approach.

i was being scanned regularly to check for ovulation and stuff. my problem when ttc was that i couldnt ovulate. i had some abnormal cysts for quite a while after that but they had no affect on my fertility. generally the cyst would form on the ovary that wasnt ovulating that cycle. i had a cyst the month i first ovulated properly which was the month i got pg and i also got another cyst when i was about 4 months pg but it just reabsorbed itself i assume. lol. and as far as i know in most cases it wont cause problems. if you are worried go see the doc and if you do get a BFP just be cautious until you know more in case it is a false reading. im not a doctor this was just my personal experience

It could well be a natural m/c in which case I'd just keep a diary going for the next week or so and note anything of concern. If it is a natural m/c you'll have a clean-out bleed over that time, perhaps with cramps and baby blues. Hopefully for your sake the answer is that simple but not necessarily the loss of a baby.
