Topic: Toddler snow suit? Posted: 18 July 2008 at 4:08pm |
We want to head down to Ruapehu for a weekend (hopefully midweek actually) in September sometime when Alex will be about 14 months.
What would I dress him in so that he can play in the snow? I'm after practical cheap ideas! I assume he'll be walking by then but no guarantees I guess.

Baby Factory had some gorgeous snow suits at one stage, Willie wouldn't let me buy them for the gremlins coz we're not going to the snow

Do you remember how much they were?
Perhaps I should have a look in my local BF this weekend sometime.

How about the overalls from sillybillyz.co.nz? I got some last week for Lauren for at soccer in the weekends and they are awesome!
They were $39.95, not sure if thats the kind of money you want to spend though.

BabyCity have some plain but practical snowsuits on special - $15. Not sure what sizes they go up to.

Ohh I was going to post a similar topic as we are also taking Ash to the snow in September. But I was wondering more about footwear - gumboots are nice and practical but I'm sure her little feet would freeze?? Sneakers?? Any suggestions?
I've been given a toddlers snowsuit in size 2 which is perfect

Gumboots with two pairs of socks (one thick) and her feet will be fine
You can hire snow suits etc from the mountain or any of the rental places.
They are pretty cheap, about $10-15 and worth it if you're only going up once a year.

Yeah we just hired ours for the kids and like Meow said, it was really cheap. About $35 for both kids for 2 days hire and they were the proper warm, waterproof ones.
I didn't think it was worth buying because by the time we went back to the snow again they'd have outgrown them anyway.
We did buy gloves and hats and sunnies for them though, and like Meow, gumboots with lots of socks (and spare ones in the car too) worked a treat.
