Topic: Quickest BFP after before AF Due? Posted: 25 September 2007 at 2:53pm |
How many days before AF was due did you test and get a BFP?
Just interested really as a friend reckons she has a BFP but isnt due for her AF until another 2 weeks!

A "normal" person ovulates 14 days before you get af so definately isn't possible. If her af is due in 2 weeks then she would be ovulating now. Oh and thats why its called the 2 week wait, as there is 2 weeks between ovulation and when you can find out if you are pg
ETA I got my bfp a day before af was due and the test I used was one that you could use 3 days before it was due.

some tests can pick up the hcg level 9-10 days post conception, this was the case with kobe but as KH25 said there really isnt any chance that you could get a BFP two weeks before your AF is due unless she ovulated really really early in her cycle. Chances are she might have got pregnant the previous cycle and then had some bleeding she thought was AF

That doesn't sound right. How long are her cycles? If 28 days she must have just ovulated. Guess it could be possbile to be pregnant but waaaaay too early to know. The earliest I've had a BFP was 3 days before af was due - with a test that can detect a pregnancy up to 4 days before af. I think that's the earliest home test. Bloods can pick up lower hgc but not 2 weeks beforehand.
ETA: maybe your friend thinks she is pregnant. When I got pregnant with Gina, I kind of felt pregnant at least a week before I tested. I just felt different.

Unless she ovulated reeeallly early in her cycle, like straight away. Is she sure of her dates?
I tested about a week before AF was due and got a BFP. I was feeling off and thought that might be the reason why.

Sweet thanks - I have no idea of her dates or anything like that, she hardly got her AF this month - so the person that said she could have already been pregnant is probably right! Yah exciting times!

Some people get periods all the way thru too (I have an old friend who found out she was pg with #1 when she was in labour, and #2 when she was 5 months - both times she had periods etc).

Yeah Id say she is already pregnant too, she may have had inplantation bleeding, that can confuse people a lot when they dont know what it is.
Good Luck to her

Well least thats sorted!!. It would be impossible to test 2 weeks before AF as it takes around 6 - 8 days for the corpus luteum (egg/embryo) to reach the uterus and implant, and it's only after implantation the corpus luteum secretes HcG which is the basis of pregnancy tests. I was already 7 or 8 weeks along when I tested. Did't have any symptoms or anything, just tested as I was late, was not expecting a BFP but sure enough there it was....and the pregnancy symptoms hit the day after!
