I need some crafty inspiration. Am getting a bit bored and need some projects. Have recently sewn Hannah an apron and made some cards, but need some new ideas.

I have this pillowcase dress on my to do list (thanks for the link Nikki!), for when I go shopping next.

More ideas please
Aimee

That is super-cute!!  Hannah will look adorable in one!

What about scrapbooking?  I was fighting the urge until I decided on just this one wee project, a keepsake about Ella's arrival (figured her birth announcement we sent out, the booties she wore home and her hospital bracelet were wasted sitting in a box).  Dead easy... especially considering this was one of those pre-made pages   and the frame/box just needed painting!

but you do just the one project, and before you know it you're coming up with all these ideas and getting excited about scrapbooking papers being on sale at Spotlight in Palmy right now... just a wee heads-up there!

Next time I am over, I plan on having a good look through Spotlight! That looks gorgeous BTW.

Have decided to try sewing some nappies, but need to get my machine looked at first.

How about making Hannah...

  • A santa stocking with her name on it
  • A height chart
  • Something in cross stitch for her bedroom wall
  • Some funky decorative cushions for on her bed, or really big squishy ones for the floor

Have fun
My beautiful 2 girls...nearly 4 and 13 months

I've been making nappies. The only thing stopping me from making more is that I need the $$ for the materials lol

While I was pg with both my girls I made a teddy bear for their arrival. They are really easy to make you can get everything you need at spotlight but I've found that you can get patterns cheaper on trademe. I do mine by hand so I can do it anywhere but you could also use a machine. Then you can make little outfits for them.

Miya is only a few weeks younger than Hannah and she loves dressing and undressing hers. I've used big buttons, zips etc for her to do up on the clothes.

I've taken the kids to collect shells at the beach then arranged them and glued them on a cheap photo frame with a photo of the kids at the beach in it.

Love the idea of making some cushions - I have some in the cupboard that I can make new covers for.

Helen - might try making some little dolls clothes with buttons etc, as she is very into her baby at the moment. Do you use patterns for your bears clothes?

Was looking on greenbeans at the DIY kits before and I'm definitely going to try making some nappies when my machine is fixed.

Tomorrow am going to go pillowcase shopping for that dress and maybe buy some knitting needles and wool to relearn the skill. Really want to make some longies. Saw a good simple knitting book at the library today. Hey Nikki, when I come down in a few weeks for the concert you MUST show me all your crafting!

Tahnks for all your ideas!!

hehe I don't have much crafting going on at the moment. Just a 1/2 finished scarf for Tobin and 1/2 a dishcloth.

He bought me home a coat from the lost and found at his work today. it's a giant batwing red wool thing that I'm going to refashion into a funky coat. I'm so excited about it!!

Oh yeah, there is a tutorial around for making cute dresses out of men's shirts. I'll try find that for you too.

Good luck with sourcing funky thrifted pillow cases! I can't wait to go back home so I can go thrifting somewhere that doesn't have inflated prices. ARGH.

I made hannahs santa sack last year. It is just a white pillowcase with green fluff glued around the top. Then onto computer transfer paper (print from puter then iron on) I put a picture of santa and Hannahs name. Made some stars out of felt and glued them on too. Looks very homemade, but I like it

Got a new idea as well- to make Hannah a duvet for her yet to be bought single bed. Her room has a red theme and its so hard to find plain, not girly pink or themed, duvet sets. Going to make it out of a white single sheet set, and somehow stitch on red fabric/ribbons etc. Sounds weird but I can see it in my head.

My problem is I have so many projects I want to do before the baby arrives (and that time is fastly getting closer and closer!). So at the moment I am working on a quilt for the cot (with either cotton or wool batting and quite big so it really tucks in) and knitting a blanket also for the cot. Unfortunately the first 3 months were such a waste of time for me - I couldn't get the energy (or enthusiasim)up to do anything much (I don't know how people manage to work let alone of older children in those first months!) so the quilt I was making for our bed before I got preg has gone by the wayside until I get some baby stuff done.

For making the teddy bear clothes I just measure the bear and make my own pattern so I can reuse it, but for pretty dolls clothes I use their cabbage patch dolls clothes to take a pattern from.
Spotlight sell those little craft mags that sometimes have doll clothes patterns in them.
