sounds abit strange to me, it's still alcohol! a glass a day is supposed to be good for you, yay but i don't think i would be drinking it that often if i was preggy.

but..could be true, i don't know

Ohmigod, if that's true I'm in preggy woman heaven right now!! I LOVE red wine, and I miss it so much!! All my friends say it's ok to have the occasional glass here and there, but I've been too much of a scaredy cat. Did any of you guys have wine during pregnancy?

I was 20 weeks before I found out I was pregnant with Kiya. I worked in a bar - so I had wine, beer, spirits... the whole lot. Hasn't affected her.

When I was 16, my GP told me to have the occasional glass of red wine to help my poor circulation!

PLease dont' drink anything. Give it up for 9 months- its not long!

Is it really worth the risk?

There had not been any evidence to conclude that any level of alcohol is safe in pregnancy... lol. as for antioxidants.. maybe red wine does hae them, but i'm sure thr risks from alcohol outweigh the benefits from the "antioxidants"

Once I knew I was pregnant, then I didn't have any more alcohol.

My brother (adopted at birth) was born with fetal-alcohol syndrome(?) because his birth mum was a multi-drug abuser - alcohol, party pills and marajuana. Simon was born at 26.5 weeks, and was born addicted to marajuana as well. He was so small, he could wear my mum's wedding band as a braclet.

Thats so sad I have to admit I had a quarter of a glass of red wine this week, but apart from that I've not had a drop since 21st August (my 31st birthday, and the day before I found out I was pregnant). I don't intend to have any more, but I was craving it right then and there, and once I had just a tiny bit I was over it.

Simon is now a healthy 12.5 year old boy. Unfortunately, as a result of everything he went through in the womb, he has the social skills of a six year old. Kiya is starting to surpass him in some areas. Mum told me I need to keep having children, so as each one outgrows playing with Uncle Simon, the next one will be ready to start!

thats so sad. My BIL and his wife have semi-adopted her sister's baby which was born addicted to heroin (?..not sure exactly), and little Monique has a ton of social and developmental problems too, but she's only 3 so it's a case of waiting to see what will happen as she gets older.

I have to admit, I've had a few sips of beer while being pregnant, but really only sips..not like telling myself I would have one glass of wine only and the glass is so big I could fill it with the entire bottle.

i was going to allow myself to have a glass of wine at my friend's 30th party but i just couldn't bring myself to do it. i did have a couple of sips of beer here and there throughout the pregnancy but i actually found it easy to go without.
hehe, now i'm making up for lost time!!

I had a few sips of beer as well. Just had to have it when I saw hubby drinking it! Think I liked the cold and fizziness more than the taste!

In my opinion a glass here and there is ok while pregnant. The reason that they say "dont drink alcohol while pregnant" is for those who are "alcoholics/heavy drinkers" and if you turned around and said that its ok to drink every now and again they would take that as one in the morning and 2 at night type thing. (Did a study on behaviours for a course I did at high school)...

I was about 15 weeks when I found out I was preggaz and in that 15 weeks I had my partners sisters engagement party (sat on one glass of wine for the night!) and my 17th birthday where I had quite a few drinks at home, Arna is fine and dandy - excelling in alot of areas for her age.

I wouldnt say that its "safe" but the babies that are born with the "problems" are usually the ones where the mum is drinking all the time / doing drugs etc.

Sorry for the novel!!!

i just cant believe her midwife suggested it! when i talked to my midwife about my coffee intake she just said everything in moderation, but no alcohol. I love to drink lol, im not gunna lie, especially working in a bar by the sea summer time is my fave for random drinking sessions! all up since ive been pregnant Ive had 1/2 a glass of wine, thats a quarter each time within like a month or so and i felt stink for doing that! I just dont put myself in situations where everyone around me is "pi$$ed" basically, i cant handle it. My partner doesnt drink so thats cool! I went out the other night to watch our friends play in a band at a really busy club in town (cup week, another of my fave drinky times lol) It was great i just ended up dancing with these random women who were off thier faces and laughed "with" them all night, it was great fun!
I know of people that have drunk alot through pregnancy and baby has been fine but ive also heard of women who have had one glass and baby has had FAS. Its just too scary

definately - the ones who have had healthy babies are very very lucky - but i do remember seeing something about a lady who had gone out and only had one night of decent drinking, before she found out.. and her baby was born with FAS. I think it's just too risky.   I haven't had a drop since before i got preg with Paris - not that i haven't wanted to, but have always been preggers or b/feeding... and both my girls have never really been one for routines.. so i could never predict whether they were gonna wake up and need a feed or sleep right through. I am looking forward this time to having a drink when i finally stop feeding.. am starting to miss out on tasting all these yummy new things that are coming out on the market.
