Hi everyone...
I'm a bit new to this "message board business" but thought I would give it a whirl anyway as I am after some advice as such. I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and we are trying to get pregnant. After 2 years and only 1 period! I have now (finally) been refered to the gynecologist. One month later and still waiting for an appointment I have decided to get the ball rolling myself, my GP has put me on Metformin which seems to have regulated my periods as such, as in now I am actually getting them! I want to start looking at my cycle and working it all out but not sure which are the best ovulation kits etc.
It would be really great if anyone would be willing to share their experiences, or advice with me
Hi trinab welcome to Oh Baby. I would recommend looking at baby4you.co.nz. They have different ovulation tests you can buy and that is where I get mine from. The one I use is (Ovulation Predictor Kit - Best Value Strip Format. TOP SELLER!) and I normally buy 20 at a time and they cost $1.05 each. Do you have a BBT thermometer? if so charting is a good way to know where your cycles are at and you can register with fertilityfriend.com if you are interested. I don't have PCOS so can't help you there but I am sure there will be lots of advice from those that do know about it. Feel free to come and join us in the charting and infertility threads you will find great support.
Mum to a gorgeous 5yr old girl and a beautiful baby boy.
I'm unlucky enought to be blessed with this horrible thing and also endo. Somehow I was albe to ovulate and was able to have my children naturally. If you check out the infertilty boards you'll find there is a heap of girls in the same situation as you.
I wish you the best of luck.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
Yep check out the infertility thread, the ladies on there will definitly be able to help you. Oh Baby is a GREAT place to hang out when are having a baby or trying etc
I have pcos and found the threads here great I was under fertility associates but managed to fall naturally twice one sadly ended in miscarrage and I started acupuncture which shorterned my cycles from 50 days to 35 and I fell naturally again...very lucky
I have PCOS and had one mc and then another biochemical one and a threatened one with McKayla where I lost the twin.
I did however concieved totally naturally with the help of a gynae that encouraged us. She did say to lose weight and even 5% (if you are overweight) will bring your hormones back in control. She encouraged us not to go the ovulation kit route as it makes you stress a bit more about results which has a negative effect on getting pregnant.
Hell I didnt wanted to hear it and just wanted clomid ect which she said she would give me when she feels we tried everything else.
What did help was learning your own body sighns and your mucous and how it changes during your cycle and when the best time is.
The best is we fell pregnant the month I said that to hell with this let enjoy each other and forget all this nonsense.
Just really it helps a lot to take certain stuff. Zinc and magnesium helped a lot. And evening primrose oil.
