Topic: Itchy scalp driving me crazy! Posted: 27 February 2008 at 4:00pm |
I have had the itchiest scalp for well over a month and its driving me nuts!
What could it be?????
I have checked mine and both my daughters hair for any hair lice three times and NOTHING. I even resorted to getting some Mr.Nits and cleaning everyones hair anyway, but it wasn't that?
Could it be pregnancy related or maybe heat related?
I can't stand it anymore!

Itchy skin can be pg related but I haven't heard of it just being on your head though?
Have you been wearing a hat a lot??
After using shampoo/conditioner try washing thruogh some tea-tree oil. Works well on most things.

Me neither? Only itchy legs etc... not scalp?
No I haven't been wearing a hat or anything.
Where can I get tea-tree oil from? Is it okay to put it in your hair?

Yes its fine. All natural and can be used during pg. (I have used it loads on the sandfly bites that I have been getting.
Some folks use it for head-lice in hair. Its a general antiseptic. Any pharmacy/hardys etc sell it and some supermarkets.

Have you recently changed your shampoo, conditioner or any hair products (if you use them?!) If you have it could be the cause.
And if you haven't then maybe you should! I have found in the past that my hair/scalp gets annoyed at the same product. I recently had to change my hairspray because of it and its much better now!

Hmm, no i haven't changed it during my pregnancy, so you think i should try something new just incase?
i suppose it could just be irritating my scalp due to the pregnancy like you said, so no harm in trying something new... i would love it to work!!

is it maybe dandruff or another scalp thing? I have something going on up there and have had for a few years and until I tried Head and Shoulders Shampoo and Cond nothing else worked. Hope you get it sorted I know how annoying it can be

Yeah I thought of dandruff but wasn't it.
I can feel little spots that are alot like mozzie bites or something, but could that just be from scratching so much?
I am getting bitten all the time, but never on my scalp!

Do you get eczema at all? I get the crazy-itchy legs thanks to it, and dry skin. My mum gets a horribly itchy scalp, which only recently began for her. Eczema does some odd things.
