I got to spend the whole day out at Massey doing what I need to do and thats study!!!!
I got out there close to 10am and went straight to the library and did 2 hours straight. Had my lunch break and went to the gym to sign up (yay $55 for the whole year!!!). Went and visited a friend who works there and my neighbour and then had to climb the steps (if anyone knows the Tiritea campus you know the stairs i'm talking about
) to get to the Maori Studies department for my tutorial. I finally got to my Maori Language paper. I had already spoken to my lecturer and she was sweet about me missing the first 2 lectures as it was only pronounciation and I can do that quite well (blow my own trumpet).
Today after the tut we were talking about the assignment and the speaking part of it. I asked how indepth does it need to be as in where you come from. She asked why and I told her I know my iwi (Ngai Tahu) and I know my hapu (Kaikoura) but I don't know my Marae, but I can get it. She was like Kaikoura?!?!?!, she is from Kaikoura and there is every possiblility that we are related (somewhere done the line).
I told her how I fit in; my gt gt gt gt gt grand father gave his daughter to Te Ropera as a sex slave. She knew the story (so at least I know its true!!!) and is sure we are related down the line.
Talk about scoring points with the lecturer, being related to her
