Been looking at these lately have no idea where to start. Do you have an all in one where the mat is attached to the rest of the bag??

nope, not me. I know there are some nice flash all in ones out there that also have thermal pockets for bottles etc.

I've got a fold out washbag (from farmers) with three zipped compartments. Top of bag has a hook on it (so can be hung up if space is a problem). First compartment has a spare bodysuit, wash cloth and bib. second zipped compartment has dettol handwash, nappy rash cream, wipes, and nappy disposal bags. Third zipped compartment has two nappies and a bit of thick plastic (has sunflowers on it!) bought from spotlight as a change/surface protector.

For the girls, we had a nice big one given to us with all the bells and whistles, but far too large to carry, we'd keep it in the boot with everything but the kitchen sink - a spare of everything for just in case, great for days out. We also got a neat one for about $15 from baby factory a blue/green one with a hippo on the front, which did the trick for a daycare nappy bag for ayja, came with a change mat which we never really used.

For going out and about up town, since we always had the big bag in the car, we just got a little kids backpack, enough to put the bottle/nappies/bibs - the immediate stuff we'd need - so that it fitted underneath the buggy. And mostly we just used that for everywhere we went cos the major stuff was in the car if we really needed anything more while out visiting friends etc.

Change mats we used to use were ones from $2 shop, plastic backed, polar fleece on the top, very washable and foldable - we had a heap of these and kept one folded up in the little bag. we actually never had a change table either, just would put a blanket on the floor and then put down one of the $2 change mats.

Really it depends on the look of the bag you want and how much you're gonna use it. Cos this big one we were given, as i said, must have cost a bomb, and had EVERYTHING imaginable. but far too impractical to use every day.

LOL Janine, my OiOi bag sounds like that, it is HUGE and has all the extras, but I lug it everywhere with me with everything including the kitchen sink in it!

I like the back pack bags. I have a change mat in my bag (came with it) but not attached. I think it's actually less complicated that way anyhow because you want food in the bag too. My best advice - get lots of compartments

Sarahbetha, if you search down this thread, there was a similar one a couple of months ago. I'm in the same boat as you, searching for one that I like that isn't the same cost as the cot and that isn't twice the size of me.

Thanks for the tip about the $2 shop change mats - the only foldable ones I've found were $23 at babycity, which seemed a little steep!

For the mums out there, is it worth having a separate compartment to put the dirty nappies in?

I really want a skip hop duo for the next baby, but I'm not sure if they're classed as too expensive or not I think they're rrp $120? or something like that.

Yup Flissty, I say go with a separate compartment for dirty naps, or you could always buy a separate wet bag from one of the cloth nappy retailers.

You can get skiphop on TM for $110 new, and occasionally they have them for less (had one recently for $80 buy now).
