Topic: Baby shower games HELP! Posted: 29 June 2008 at 8:57am |
Hey ladies
I am hosting a joint baby shower for 2 friends and need some ideas for games/food etc
It is going to be a freezer party, so no gifts just a frozen meal for each mum to save cooking when baby is born.
One of the girls hosted mine for Soph and we played the guess the bump game and blindfold and guess whats in the baby bag game
Any other suggestions, expecially for joint parties?
Thanks heaps girls

I went to a baby shower and the host had melted different kinds of chocolate bars into nappies. You had to guess the chocolate bar without tasting it - just sniffing.
It sounds weird, but the photos that came from it are hilarious.
Ladies snffing "dirty" nappies, lovely.

We played that chocolate in the nappy one as well and was hilarious, the nappy with the perky narna in it looked exceptionally gross ....
I like that idea of bringing a frozen meal.

I had my baby shower yesterday and we played guess my girth, guess the date/weight/gender, celebrity baby names (you had to match up the bizarre celeb baby names with the parents) and who's that baby - everyone was supposed to bring a baby photo of themselves and we had to guess who was who it would have worked better if the guests had actually remembered their photos

At my baby shower we played guess the baby food, where the labels were taken off tinned baby food & we had to try to figure out what was in it
We also had bolloons with bits off paper in them saying what we had to do for the whole shower eg: wear a nappy, drink your drinks from a bottle, wear a bib etc , we had to sit on them to pop them & do what it said, that was hilarious!!!

Is it rude to expect presents for a baby shower? A good friend had one and she put on the invite that she wanted vouchers which I thought was a good idea. Is it standard to take a gift?
Also, when are you supposed to have it?

Presents are standard at baby showers, vouchers are a good idea too! hadn't thought of that. Usually people have them from like 28-36 weeks ish, you don't want to leave it too late and be too uncomfortable during them

Presents are pretty standard I think but I'm not so sure on the whole 'asking' for stuff thing. I got one invite with a 'suggested gift' and I didn't like it and just bought what I wanted. I'm sure plenty of people would be happy to get ideas but that's my view...
You could always give the host a list and if people needed ideas she could suggest some then?

Oops, just realised the actual topic was baby games we played that chocolate in the nappy one too and that was great. Another one we had at a baby shower was we had the washing line with pegs all over it and you held a baby (eg doll) in one arm and tried to see how many pegs you could get off with out dropping any - winner with the most... was more fun than it sounds

We had the chocolate nappy game aswell. Definately lots of fun.
Trying to guess the size of mummys bellt with a peice of string.
We had each guest bring a baby photo and had to guess who it belonged to.
Guess the jelly beans in the baby bottle.
Another one we did was a playdough pictionairy game where each person had to sculpt some baby related thing and everyone else had to guess. There were some pretty funny ones like breastfeeding, conception, birth... as well as simple ones like bottle and bib etc.
