First off, congratulations on deciding to give up thats probably the first hurdle. Well done. Now from experience I would say keep yourself busy, maybe get some chewing gum or you could try the patches, I have heard good things about them. I just went cold turkey and it is really hard but it is do - able (is that even a word). Maybe you could give yourself short term goals, e.g. to be smokefree for one week & then treat yourself to something and so on after that.
Good luck hunny, it is really hard but you will feel great soon. I felt less whezzy, more active & just generally more healthy

Thankyou for your suggestions, how long have you given up for. This is my second time at giving up I have done it for 12months etc. Its so bloody hard! Whats your reason for giving up Jaxs?

Don't forget to put the money you would normally spend on smoking into a special jar or something so that when you reach those goals (1 week free, 2 weeks free) etc you can go spend it on something very cool.
Your going to be so happy with yourself!

the only time i was ever successful at giving up was when i was pregnant with my son. before that i was a habitual giver upper. and it seemed that once i had really made up my mind and had a real reason to do it i never went back.

The best way to not get sidetracked is to get pg worked a treat for me last time lol
I agree about the money thing, spend it on clothes or a night out or something (don't spend it on food as you'll be replacing one addiciton with another).
Good on you for making the decision! It really is the best one for you and your future bubs, they have enough to contend with without having that stuff in their systems too.
I think its fab anyway chick!

When I stopped smoking I put my money aside that I would have spent on ciggies. My reward was paying for my wedding dress with the money.
Focus on the good things about no smoking rather than about what you think you're missing out on.
And good luck

Yep Dh and I did hyptnosis as well and its worked a treat. Been ciggy free for almost 5 months.
Well Done hun. The hardest step is deciding to do it and then actually following through
I agree with the others. Reward yourself with your money at particular milestones. Well done

I gave up a few weeks before i started ttc, was very hard, especially since I still WANTED to smoke but had promised DF (who has never smoked in his life) that If we were going to TTC i would give up first) and felt like i was being forced (oh woe is me ! haha)
It helped heaps once i found out I was pregnant , now i was giving up for someone who had no say , and the idea of smoking would have made me feel really guilty, so it hasn't been too hard .
There are times i would like a smoke, but i either go do something else, or (this will sound weird) brush my teeth instead ....
Good luck Courtney, it may not feel like it at the moment ,but you can do it , the biggest thing for me was getting out of the habit of buying them ...

Courntey01 - how are you getting on? I was a social smoker and gave up last year.
