Topic: Green = Doctor? Posted: 03 March 2009 at 12:08pm |
Hi Ladies
Jacksons been ill the past two days. I was up in the night with him, and now his boogies have turned green and runny. Does this mean an infection and a visit to the doc? He doesnt have a temp and is eating OK, not so much his milk though

Last time Leah had a runny nose that started to turn green she had an ear infection, had no temp and was otherwise fine...I hadn't even thought of an ear infection but she needed antibiotics to clear it.

Yes I would go, usually if they turn from clear to green there is an infection present (comes from years of me having bronchitis)
But on the plus side, kids are free at the dr so I'd go just for your peace of mind anyway.

Thanks ladies, a nurse is ringing me back from the docs. I thought with him not drinking his bottles perhaps his ears are hurting, so could be an ear infection.
Ours charges for kids

Mine often have yucky green runny noses with the usual cold/flu viruses so I wouldn't worry too much about the green mucous, but if he's taking less milk then it's probably a good idea to get him checked.

Thanks, have booked him in for tommorow morning.
I called plunket line as well as he developed a temperature ( I thought 38.5 was high?!) and they said it just sounds like a cold/virus. Will have another fun night tonight no doubt.

I thought Dominic just had a cold too, same temperature and symptoms as Jackson, and it turned out that he had a really nasty ear infection. Always better to be safe than sorry.
