Hello Oh Baby Lovelies,

I'm on my first cycle of Clomid and just wondering if this shortens your cycle - eg makes you ovulate around day 14, or does it just ensure ovulation around the time that you 'usually' would? (eg in my case about day 24).

Just wondering if it will regulate my sycle to a regular 28 ish day cycle, or whether I will continue to have long cycles.

Thanks in advance oh wise ones!

Hi rillamyrilla...

I understood that it immitates estrogen to facilitate ovulation - so the aim to try and achieve a 28 day cycle or thereabouts... so I would expect you would ov somewhere around CD14... that is from what Ive read though dunno how reliable it is in reality.

Did you try vitex before clomid? just wondering as I have crazy long cycles too and vitex has halved em... but I know it's not the answer for everyone! but just interested really

best of luck to ya ... hope clomid works!!!!!!

Hey Rilla

My understanding of clomid is the same it should make you ovulate somewhere around cd 14ish, although some people don't ov even on clomid. Are you doing monitored cycles of clomid, cause if you are they will do blood tests and scans to see what your hormone levels are doing leading up to ov & scans to see how many follies the clomid has made you produce

We will probably be doing a clomid cycle too after we have seen the specialist at the end of the month.

Goodluck and I really hope the clomid does the trick

Hey Rilla,

I take Clomid to ovulate as I don't on my own.
When taking Clomid I ovulate anywhere from day 18 to 24 (I just O'd a couple of days ago on day 20).
My LP is 13-15 days long.
My gynae had hoped I'd get a 28 day cycle out of Clomid but it didn't happen for me... but it did make me ovulate so I can't really complain lol

I'd assume you'd O earlier than day 24 on Clomid, but it may not be the ideal day 14, could be inbetween days 14-24. But I have my fingers crossed you get it earlier than normal... long cycles are a drag lol.

Good luck

Most women usually go off ovulation signs: ovulation pains, fertile CM, increased sex drive etc.

Or you can chart, and see the thermal shift in your temps to show ovulaion.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your helpful advice

I guess I should have said first that my cycles over the past year have been anywhere from 34 to 63 days - and no one cycle the same - so 'shortening the cycle' for me is probably a different concept to someone on a 28 day like clockwork cycle!

Yes, I'm being monitored - and the specialist told me today there is one good follicle there, the lining is good and there is lots of CM so it's "all units, go go go" DH v plsd ;-)
